Study In Abroad: Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarships 2024

His Highness The Aga Khan founded the International Scholarship Programme (ISP) of the Aga Khan Foundation. It is intended to assist highly gifted students from underdeveloped nations who are unable to pay for full-time postgraduate courses at esteemed universities.

The Foundation provides a small number of postgraduate scholarships each year with the primary goal of developing competent academics and leaders for employment within the AKDN (Aga Khan Development Network). Scholarships are offered through a competitive application procedure that takes place once a year in June or July, with the grants being made up of 50% loans and 50% grants.

Master’s level courses are given precedence; however, outstanding applicants who are strongly advised by their instructors and who need a Ph.D. to pursue their goals of working in academia or research-focused fields may also be taken into consideration.

Notably, neither applications from students currently enrolled in their course of study nor those for short-term courses will be accepted.

Approximately 96,000 people work with us; most of them are from underdeveloped nations. We allot about $1 billion a year to non-profit development initiatives. The Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development, our economic development arm, brings in $4 billion a year, but all of the project firms’ profits are reinvested in more development initiatives, typically in remote, vulnerable, or post-conflict areas.

WHAT WE DO

Income is not the only factor in determining living standards. While a family may require emergency housing or medical care, long-term well-being is largely dependent on education, loans, physical market access, work, and a comfortable home.

As a result, AKDN approaches attaining sustainable changes comprehensively. We work to address pressing issues like food distribution and disaster relief while pursuing long-term development goals like constructing universities and green infrastructure.

We take care of the more concrete needs, like building bridges and restrooms, as well as the intangible ones, like financing research, setting up savings groups, and sponsoring live performances.

DEVELOPING HUMAN CAPACITY

To support people in thriving, we provide healthcare, education, and parental support.

BUILDING RESILIENT COMMUNITIES

We assist communities in improving their environments and mitigating and overcoming natural calamities.

GENERATING ECONOMIC GROWTH

To promote equitable economic growth, we provide financial services, construct infrastructure, and impart knowledge.

Honoring CULTURAL HERITAGE

To empower communities to confidently look to the future while building on their past, we invest in the arts, architecture, and cultural heritage.
