Students from all over the world are cordially welcome to submit their applications to the University of St. Thomas Houston for the academic year 2024–2025. Forms of application are now being accepted for submission.

About University of St. Thomas Houston Scholarships

Renewable merit-based scholarships are being offered by the University of St. Thomas to both domestic and international undergraduate students. The combined SAT/ACT math and critical reading scores as well as the high school GPA determine the recipients of the scholarships.

RECREATION and ATHLETICS

An intercollegiate department at the University of St. Thomas is now making the transition to NCAA Division III membership. We play a variety of team sports for men and women, and we go by the moniker “Celts.”

You will have access to the tools and leadership you need to achieve both on and off the playing field as a student-athlete.

RECREATION TRAVEL

This is a fantastic chance for students to explore more of the Houston region and discover other parts of Texas. Every trip proposal is submitted by UST students. Previous travels have included:

  • Riding a horse
  • Canoeing
  • Climbing rocks
  • Wakeboarding with a cable
  • LOBBY/LOUNGE

Available to all UST members, instructors, staff, and students. An excellent spot for studying, ping pong, TV watching, and who knows, maybe running into Lenny!

University of St. Thomas Houston Scholarship Requirements

You are inherently qualified to be considered for a scholarship if you:

  • Have finished the admissions application;
  • Have been admitted to the university, and
  • Are you working toward your first bachelor’s degree as an undergraduate (either domestically or overseas)?

Scholarship Benefits

The following are the values of the University of St. Thomas Freshman Merit Scholarship:

  • $10,000 each year for Aquinas Award (GPA of 2.5 to 2.99)
  • $13,000 per year Celt Award (GPA: 3.0 – 3.39)
  • $16,000 annually for the UST Achievement Scholarship (GPA: 3.40–3.79)
  • $18,000 annually for the Basilian Distinguished Scholarship (GPA of 3.80 to 3.79).
  • $20,000 annually Presidential Excellence Scholarship (GPA: 4.0+)

As the awarding process starts on November 1, early applications are recommended.

Should you receive a university scholarship, you will receive a written notification. The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will also list your scholarship on your award letter.

Houston Hometown Heroes Scholarship

For recently admitted HISD high school seniors who recognize a need in their community and have a solution in mind, UST is providing at least one full tuition award!

We are searching for imaginative, driven, and community-focused students who are eager to make a difference. Please apply as soon as possible, as students cannot apply until they have been admitted to UST.

St. Thomas Promise

Eligibility Requirements

This offer is available to incoming first-time college students from families earning $50,000 or less annually and with a GPA of 3.4 or above.

This offer is available to incoming transfer students from families making $50,000 or less per year who have a college GPA of 3.5 or above.

Students who meet the eligibility requirements must reside in Texas, be eligible for both federal and state aid, and submit the FAFSA form. The FAFSA code for UST is 003654. In addition to free tutoring services and mentorship for the first year, the St. Thomas Promise of free tuition also helps to guarantee a smooth transition to college.

The St. Thomas Promise is reevaluable every four years as long as family income stays within the acceptable limit.
