Compendium of Scholarships available at the University of Copenhagen for International Students

1. The Danish Government Scholarship

The Danish Government, through the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, provides scholarships to international students who want to study at the University of Copenhagen. The scholarship offered by the University of Copenhagen attempts to fully or partially pay the expenses associated with studying in Denmark, including tuition fees and basic living expenses.

Individuals who meet the specified requirements are eligible for the Danish Government Scholarship, irrespective of their financial circumstances. The Danish Government Scholarship is granted to individuals who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. As the GPA increases, the likelihood of receiving a waived tuition charge and supplementary allowance for living expenses also increases.

The Danish Government Scholarship does not have a separate application process. All applicants to the University of Copenhagen will automatically be considered for the scholarship.

  • Applicants must cover either a portion or the entire tuition fee.

Requirements for eligibility:

  • Eligible applicants must possess citizenship from either Switzerland or a non-European Union and European Economic Area country.
  • Applicants must have been accepted into a full-time master’s degree program at the University of Copenhagen.

  • Danish citizens or applicants who possess a residence permit in Denmark are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Candidates who have access to grants provided by the Danish government are also not eligible to participate in this scholarship.

2. The Gen Foundation Grant

The Gen Foundation, established on August 14, 1998, aims to facilitate cross-cultural exchanges between Japan and the global society. This charitable trust focuses on supporting various natural sciences, including physical sciences, environmental sciences, and food sciences. The foundation is managed by a group of trustees who meticulously review numerous applications from exceptional candidates worldwide.

To apply for this scholarship at the University of Copenhagen, an applicant must possess hard copies of the necessary documentation.

The requirements for the application are as follows: – Official application form – Written statement of purpose – English test results – Applicant’s recent passport-sized photograph attached to the application form – Applicant’s comprehensive resume – Two original and signed non-personal reference letters written in either English or Japanese – Applicant’s acceptance letter from the University of Copenhagen.

Amount of Scholarship

  • The amount can range from $700 to $6900, based on the Trustees’ discretion.

Requirements for eligibility:

  • Applicants must be seeking admission to a postgraduate program in the field of natural sciences, namely in food sciences or food technology.
  • Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.

3. The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Scholarship Award

Scholarship Amount: The scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees as well as provides a monthly allowance.

This fellowship is accessible to international applicants from poor countries who wish to pursue a master’s degree in a topic connected to development at the University of Copenhagen. Recipients of this scholarship from the University of Copenhagen will be granted complete coverage of their tuition fees and will also receive a monthly allowance.
