HOW TO REGISTER FOR IELTS EXAMS IN GHANA 2022/2023
IELTS fully referred to as International English Language Testing System is the standardized English language test. It is developed to help non-English Speaking individuals who seek to pursue their studies without difficulty. Most Universities require an IELTS certificate before accepting applications from non-English speaking candidates.
There are a lot of countries that offer IELTS certificates and Ghana is no exception. In this article, we will brief you about registering for the exam online without stress. Registration for IELTS in Ghana is quite simple. There are a lot of IELTS offices in Ghana. For registration, you will have to complete your online registration. There are a number of IELTS centers in Ghana. Hence, you can equally register at the nearest office in your area.
There are office centers across the country where individuals can write the test. These regions are; Ashanti, Greater Accra, Cape Coast, and Nothern regions.
Online Registration of IELTS in Ghana
Generally, there are two ways through which one can register for the IELTS test.
To begin, one can register for the test by paying for the test online. One can also transfer the fee through any branch of Standard Chartered Bank in Ghana. Additionally, one can use the British Council Virtual Account deposit slip to make payment for the IELTS test.
On the other hand, one can walk into any of the offices to register. However, when doing this, you must have national identification documents when submitting to the local test center.
CONFIRMATION and DATE FOR IELTS TEST
After you have registered for the test, you will receive a message stating when you will write your test.
However, your speaking test may be scheduled 7 days prior to the main test date. A code will be sent to you in your email. This code will enable you to get access to the online courses.
Also, you will get your IELTS Reference Number which will help you to access the Test Taker Portal. Kindly take note that, the email you provide must be the correct one.
Individuals who seek to write this test must not be below the age of 16 years. Also, it is prudent for individuals to know the test date ahead so that they can plan well.
IELTS Exams In Ghana Requirements
Firstly, individuals will not be permitted to write the test without their original ID document. The identification document can be a National ID for Ghanaians or Passport. However, identification documents like student ID, Voters ID, and driver’s license are not acceptable.
Secondly, the required ID document for foreigners is strictly a valid Passport. Individuals under the age of 18 need their parents’ written approval before they can register for a test.
BREAK DOWN OF IELTS TEST COST
Individuals will be allowed to write the test only after making payment for the fee. Below is the breakdown of IELTS fees:
- Academic and General Training (Paper-based & Computer-based) – GH¢ 1541
- UKVI (Academic and General Training) – GH¢ 1697
- Life Skills (A1 and B1) – GH¢ 1173
- Academic & General Training – Abidjan – GH¢ 1665
Keep in mind that individuals who want to travel to the UK must apply for the IELTS for UKVI test. In order to pass the test, one must attend classes. So aside from the registration fee, candidates may incur additional costs for tuition.
One can study in Kumasi, Accra Tamale, and Cape Coast. The British Council in Ghana is responsible for the registration of people.
IELTS Test Dates
Registration of the test is on a first-come-first-served basis, candidates must know the test date ahead. Also, they have to register 5 weeks before their selected dates. Once the application slots are fully filled up, individuals must keep monitoring their emails to know the status of their test place availability.
