How to See Who Blocked You on Instagram

As easy as it is to stay connected on the many social media platforms, it is also easy to close someone off. It could be an ex, a nosy friend, or a relative. Regardless of who or why a person gets blocked, it could be difficult if you are the one that gets blocked. The reason why you may feel someone has blocked you could be that the person has deactivated or deleted their account.

No social media platform announces when someone won’t allow you to see their post anymore. To know if you have been blocked on Instagram take a look at these steps.

Firstly, SEARCH ON INSTAGRAM

To know if someone has blocked you, search for their profile. If their account is public and you can see their content, then you have not been blocked. If you see the message “This Account is Private” on a private account it also means you have not been blocked. However, if their accounts do not show up, they might have blocked you or deleted their account.

Afterward, CHECK YOUR OWN PROFILE

Instagram does not delete old comments or tags from your own profile when someone blocks you. If after searching their profile shows up but displays User not Found and a No Post Yet, it shows that the person has blocked you. This method works if you have exchanged texts with the person.

Thereafter, VISIT THEIR INSTAGRAM PROFILE USING A BROWSER.

To access someone’s Instagram profile using the browser, launch the browser and enter instagram.com/username. If you get logged in but see a message that reads “Sorry, this page isn’t available,” then it is likely you have been blocked. It could also mean the account has either been deactivated or deleted. To confirm if the account has been deleted or deactivated log out of the account and use an incognito browser to search again.  If their profile is displayed then it indicates that you have been blocked, if not that means the account has been deleted.

CHECK YOUR MESSAGE

Instagram hides the message thread you have had with a person once you are blocked. If you are suspicious that you have been blocked, check your direct message if you can see it, then you have not been blocked. If not then you have been blocked. Check the group message you have in common to see if their names appear. If they are participants in the group but nowhere else then you have been blocked.

TRY TO FOLLOW THEM

If you see the person’s profile and can give them a follow, then it means you are not blocked. But if you are blocked, you cannot follow. Tapping on the “Follow” button won’t go through and you will continue to see that button without being able to press it.
