NDC’s OTUKONOR SHOWS KENKEY AND GHANA CARD AT NPP CONFERENCE
In reaction to Dr. Bawumiah’s interchanges comment over Ghana Card, there have been several roasts and comments by Ghanaians. Dr. Bawumiah said, “I will choose Ghana Card over 1000 interchanges “. During ah ongoing NPP 2022 Delegates Congress, the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Peter Boamah Otukonor threw jabs at Dr. Bawumiah while he was delivering a solidarity message.
MR. OTUKONOR’S COMMENT IN RELATION TO DR. BAWUMIAH’S SPEECH
While Mr. Otukonor was delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the opposition party, he told the NPP delegates at the Accra Sports Stadium that he bought a ball of “Fante Kenkey “ which cost Ghana his Ghana Card. He said, “ When we were coming, I decided to buy a ball of Kenkey. This ball of kenkey sells for 5 cedis. The leaves on the Kenkey alone will be 3 cedis; more expensive than the Kenkey itself. Guess what ladies and gentlemen, I bought the Kenkey with my Ghana Card.”
Moreso, some social media users have also reacted to this comment by the Vice President, that he would choose the Ghana Card over 1000 interchanges. As such, this comment from Mr. Otukonor comes at the back of Dr. Bawumiah’s speech. Dr. Bawumiah’s speech was given at the Accra Business School at Baatson in Accra, where they were launching two new High levels information technology programs.
CONCLUSION
Dr. Bawumiah’s speech, “I would take the Ghana Card because it has greater impact if you handed me 1, 000 interchanges” has really stirred up a lot of reactions among Ghanaians. According to Dr. Bawumiah, the Ghana Card had made things easier because students may bow acquire loans without guarantors with Ghana Card.
Though Dr. Bawumiah was trying to make a point, Ghanaians feel that such a comment is uncalled for, hence arousing several comments such as that of the Deputy General Secretary, Peter Boamah Otukonor.
