Most people believe that one of the largest mobile phone manufacturing countries in the world is China. Though this may be through, there are other African countries that have mobile phone factories. This article is a compilation of the top 4 African countries that manufacture mobile phones.

1. FIRSTLY, SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa is one of the leading African countries in the manufacturing of mobile phones. One of their mobile phone manufacturing company us Onyx. Onyx imports mobile phone components from overseas and builds smartphones from their circuit board in South Africa. Mint Technology is also one of the Mobile phone manufacturing companies in South Africa.
2. SECONDLY, NIGERIA
Another African country involved in the manufacturing of mobile phones is Nigeria. The first mobile phone manufacturer in Nigeria is Afrione. Other companies include Imose Mobile, Solo Phone Nigeria Ltd, and Pliris Mobile which was initiated by Mr. Oluwafemi Alade.
3. THIRDLY, RWANDA
Rwanda manufactured and released its first-ever Made in Africa smartphones. The name of the smartphones is “Mara X and Mara Z Phones”. The phone was launched in Kigali in Rwanda by the Mara Group. According to the CEO Of Mara Group, Thakkar, the Mara Phones were fully manufactured and not an assembling that was done, like they do in Egypt, Algeria and Ethiopia. The CEO also said that this new manufacturing would bring a huge pride to Rwanda and the African continent as a whole.
4. THEN THE REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Another African country with a mobile phone manufacturing factory is the Republic of Congo. The Congolese start-up VMK set up a factory in Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo to manufacture smartphones.
5. FINALLY, UGANDA
In 2019, Uganda begin to manufacture its first smartphones through SIMI. The phones have a battery capacity that lasts for at least two days. They have already exported about 18,000 of their locally made smartphones to Morocco. The SIMI S300 is the first phone that was manufactured in Uganda, though it’s not a smartphone.
