Job Description

  • To assist in the expansion of the Corporate Banking Trade business to accomplish business objectives, design and drive the delivery of a market-leading joined-up sales strategy for the trade corporate portfolio.
  • The major goal of this function is to increase the bank’s earnings by selling Trade solutions to targeted commercial clients.
  • This will be accomplished through the acquisition of new client mandates and deals, the expansion of existing connections, and the protection of present business flows. To guarantee that new Trade income streams are sustainable, this professional must work with the RM/RD in charge of these accounts to create solid, long-term customer relationships.

Position Description

Sales Performance – 70% Time Split

  • Meet or exceed sales performance targets as established and agreed upon within annual goals.
  • Segment each client/prospect depending on projected needs and future growth.
  • Agree on annual client sales objectives and action plans for all ‘Priority Accounts’ with the RM/RD group, and assess progress regularly.
  • Plan particular call objectives for each client to ‘progress’ the sales process.
  • Complete call reports for all sales calls with clients.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate ‘Trade Maps’ for all ‘Priority Accounts’ as new information is discovered during the sales process.
  • Discover client unhappiness with the current status in areas where Absa can offer alternatives.
  • As new business possibilities are identified and old deals are taken forward, the sales pipeline system should be updated on a weekly or periodic basis.
  • Determine the distinct decision criteria, roles, and priorities of each client ‘buyer’ in the sales process.
  • To enhance the fit of Absa’s recommended solutions and influence the relative relevance of customer choice criteria.
  • Create persuasive solution proposals that reflect a complete understanding of each client’s needs and goals.
  • Monitor implementation progress and give appropriate support to ensure that all customer expectations are met or surpassed.
  • Create connections with other firms and product categories to maximize cross-selling potential.
  • Arrange customer seminars and conferences, or participate in customer get-togethers, to improve and add value to customer sales and product education.

Team Work Output – Time Distribution: 20%

  • Monitor implementation progress and give appropriate support to ensure that all customer expectations are met or surpassed.
  • Create connections with other departments and product lines to maximize cross-selling opportunities and customer solutions.
  • Participate in selected seminars and conferences to promote trade solutions to specific clients and prospects.
  • Coach and educate team members on trade products.

Risk/Compliance – Time Split: 10%

  • Ensure that all potential and actual business activity and transactions adhere to the bank’s sanctions and restriction policy in full.
  • Take personal responsibility for ensuring that all training is followed and finished per the bank’s established criteria.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, or Management (required)
