GIFT AID AND NEED-BASED AID
Students who demonstrate financial need are eligible for both federal and state grants. To qualify for any of the grants mentioned below, you need to submit an FAFSA form. The annual renewal of these funds is contingent upon demonstrated financial necessity.
GRANTS FEDERAL PELL
Eligibility for Pell Grants is dependent on your FAFSA-derived financial need. Based on financial need, awards have a value ranging from $692 to $6,895.
FSEOG stands for Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants.
A restricted number of undergraduate students who meet the Pell Grant eligibility requirements and exhibit extraordinary financial need are eligible for FSEOG funding. At Central, the amounts are usually $500, however they can fluctuate.
GRANT FOR IOWA TUITION
For students who live in Iowa and want to attend one of the state’s private universities, the Iowa Tuition Grant is provided by the State of Iowa. You have to have submitted your FAFSA by July 1st to be eligible for the Iowa Tuition Grant.
The Iowa College Student Aid Commission sets the annual amount, which is presently $7,500. The Iowa College Student Aid Commission may administratively lower the maximum award to less than the statutory maximum if available state funds will not be sufficient to cover the entire amount of each approved grant because of the state’s financial situation.
EDUCATION GRANTS
A government program called TEACH Grants, also known as Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grants, provides funding to students who intend to teach in high-need areas and are willing to work in low-income schools. There are yearly forgivable loans of up to $3,772 available to qualifying students.
