Cornell University Admissions without tuition fee for 2024–25

Currently, one of the top research and academic universities in the world, Cornell University offers the widest selection of Ivy League programs. Some of the greatest researchers, philosophers, scientists, inventors, humanitarians, and thought leaders in the world are drawn to Cornell.

A true sense of community and camaraderie amongst academics and students at the Graduate School encourages collaboration, and helpful staff members assist students as they navigate their time at Cornell.

Concerning Cornell University

One of the very first universities in the country to offer advanced degrees and accept female and African-American students is Cornell. With almost 100 academic departments, our Graduate School is now a friendly, lively, and intellectually interesting community.

With graduate studies incorporated into the curriculum from the time of its foundation, Cornell was among the first universities in the United States to grant advanced degrees.

Four advanced degrees—a Ph.D., an M.S., an M.A., and an advanced degree in civil engineering—were defined by the Cornell Register as early as 1868–1869. The first president of Stanford University, David Starr Jordan, received an M.S. in botany at Cornell in 1870. Only seven years after the university’s foundation, Henry Turner Eddy received the first Ph.D. from Cornell in 1872. The number of graduate students in the US at the time was less than two hundred.

More than 5,000 students were drawn to Cornell by 1913, making it the second-largest institution in the country due to its breadth of academic offerings. Industrial engineering and electrical engineering doctorates were initially conferred at Cornell University.

Reasons to Select Cornell University

Extracurriculars

The vibrant extracurricular scene at Cornell demonstrates that the university’s capacity for enjoyment is directly correlated with its academic caliber. Ice hockey is by far the most popular team among the 37 varsity sports teams. After all, Cornell is near Canada!

The 12-team ECAC, the Ivy League, and Division I of the NCAA are all home to Cornell’s sports teams and student body, known together as “The Big Red.” The men’s ice hockey team set records by winning two national championships and being unbeaten for the whole campaign.

Customs and Heritage

All-Ivy League schools have distinctive customs that permeate the culture of the student population as a whole. Cornell is not an anomaly in this regard. Some students even think their customs are more colorful and enjoyable.

Slope Day is a cherished ritual that is widely observed. This annual celebration takes place following the last day of classes. It features a variety of entertaining activities, top-notch cuisine, and musical acts.

Entertainment and the Arts

Students at Cornell University have access to a variety of discounts and offers to attend a range of events. All events hosted by the school’s Department of Music are accessible to tall students. Students, teachers, and even outside performers can all be seen performing here.

A lot of kids like going to the regular Midday Music concert series. Students at Cornell are admitted free of charge to all sporting events, except men’s hockey. But these are still available at a reduced price.

Meals

Attending Cornell has several benefits, one of which is its cuisine! You did hear correctly! For years, Cornell University has held the title of one of the nation’s top food-related universities. This is partly because the local farming community in Ithaca and the College of Agriculture and Life Science are closely related. In addition, the college runs a large number of food and dairy facilities on site.

Waivers of Application Fees

Through the online application form’s payment page, you can ask for a cost waiver.

Both American and foreign applicants may be qualified for a remission of the application fee. Please submit both your application and the request for a fee waiver at the same time, directly in the application form, if you believe you are qualified for one. Please try to submit your application and the request for a fee waiver no later than three days before the deadline. You will be notified and asked to resubmit your application and pay the cost if your request is rejected.

There are several reasons why fee exemptions could be approved:

Financial Hardship: Applicants may be granted a waiver of financial hardship in extraordinary circumstances. Usually, requests are only granted to candidates for fully financed master’s or doctorate programs in research or to those who plan to apply for federal student aid to pay for their program by completing an FAFSA.

You must submit a succinct but thorough justification of how the application fee poses a financial hardship for you to be considered for a waiver of the financial hardship requirement.

The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from a recent FAFSA, unemployment or underemployment, the state of the economy in your native nation, etc. are all pertinent factors. On the application form’s fee waiver request page, you can type your justification.
