Concerning Dakota State

Dakota State University was established in the Dakota Territory in 1881 as a teacher education institution. Even though we now prioritize education in the digital realm, Dakota State is still one of the few colleges in the country that gives students access to the technology they need to succeed in any field.

Situated in the ancestral land of the Oceti Sakowin, an alliance of the Isanti, Ihanktunwan, and Titunwan, is Dakota State University. The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, Oglala Sioux Tribe, Rosebud Sioux Tribe, Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and Yankton Sioux Tribe are the nine tribes in South Dakota that are currently recognized by the federal government as the representatives of these peoples.

Our Trojans continue to advance toward the future as a cohesive team. We’re extending our campus, growing quickly, and engrossing ourselves in the newest and most cutting-edge technologies. We want you to join us in rising.

Certifications

Our accreditations serve as a testament to the caliber of our campus’s offerings. In addition to allowing graduates to take certification examinations and guaranteeing to all of our constituencies that DSU meets or surpasses quality requirements, accreditations have a range of other effects on Dakota State.

  • Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)
  • South Dakota Department of Education
  • Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)
  • Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM)
