What Happens When You Report And Block Someone On WhatsApp?
Usually, when you report a number to Whatsapp we normally forget about them once they are off our trail. A lot happens to the person you report. Although it may take a while for Whatsapp to either suspend or ban the person or number completely.
When you report someone to WhatsApp, previous conversations with them will continue to appear on your phone. However, if you choose the ‘Report and Block’ option, your chats with the person will be deleted completely.
REPORTING A NUMBER
When you want to report someone on WhatsApp, you are presented with two options, that is ‘Report’ and ‘Report and Block’. We will explain how both options work and their aftermath.
Once you hit that ‘Report’ or ‘Report and Block’ button, your recent interactions with the number will be sent to WhatsApp for investigative purposes. What happens to the number totally depends on the selection you made when you made the report. If you chose the ‘Report and Block’ option, the person won’t be able to send you new messages. Also, if you selected the ‘Report’ option while reporting the contact, that person will be able to send texts, media files, or voice notes.
Whichever option you choose, WhatsApp will register the report you have submitted and add the number to a ‘Watchlist. There the person’s activities will be closely monitored by the team. Also, an investigation will be carried out on the person’s activities on the platform. On further investigation, they might be banned from using WhatsApp.
AFTERMATH OF A REPORT
You can either report a number or a good chat on WhatsApp. The aftermath of the group chat isn’t seen as much as the report on an individual. It will almost be as if the report was ignored. But, the watchlist helps keep a close tab on the group. Listed below are some of the aftermath of a report on WhatsApp.
- WhatsApp will investigate the reported contact
- Your last seen will not be visible to the number you reported
- Your status will be hidden from the reported number
- Your WhatsApp profile will not be seen by the number
- Calls and messages will not be delivered
- Group chats will not be affected
Whatsapp might not take any necessary action against the group immediately. The group might still continue to exist and remain functional even after you report it.
