Study In Switzerland: University of Geneva Excellence Masters Fellowships 2024
The University of Geneva’s Faculty of Science, in partnership with many sponsors, has launched the Excellence Fellowship Program to provide financial assistance to exceptional and highly motivated individuals wishing to pursue a Master of Science in any of the Faculty’s academic areas.
Concerning the University
Established in 1559, the University of Geneva is a globally renowned institution that is ranked in the top 100 of all time. Being a multipurpose organization, it encourages the development of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary fields in both teaching and research. It consistently fortifies its ties to the global Geneva while advancing the cultural, social, and economic advancement of the area, particularly via the encouragement of research and its proficiencies in a multitude of domains.
More than 500 programs, including 136 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs, as well as 343 continuing education courses, are available at UNIGE. These courses span a very broad range of subjects, including the exact sciences, law, medicine, humanities, and social sciences.
Research in the biological sciences (bio-informatics, molecular biology), elementary particle physics, and astrophysics are among its areas of excellence. Concerning The Faculty
The University of Geneva’s Faculty of Science is a renowned research institution with a global reputation. Scientific fields like astronomy, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, pharmaceutical sciences, earth sciences, and the environment are all covered by this cutting-edge study.
Along with numerous European research initiatives, the Faculty is home to two National Centers of Competence in Research of the highly competitive Swiss National Sciences Foundation (SwissMAP; Planets). The master’s program in the Faculty of Science provides an excellent foundation for both academic and professional growth, with opportunities for employment in industry, education, science administration, media, and communication.
The courses Master’s degrees are offered in both English and French, depending on the specific program.
Students who are highly motivated and exceptional and want to get a Master of Science in one of the areas taught by the Faculty of Science can apply for the Excellence Fellowship program, which was created with the help of outside partners1. Candidates are chosen based on their excellence.
Details of the Scholarship
- Host: The University of Geneva in Switzerland is the host institution.
- Study Subject/Level: The Faculty of Sciences offers Master of Science degrees in any subject.
- Target audience: All students, particularly those studying abroad
Scholarship worth:
The annual value of the scholarship is CHF 10,000–15,000. As long as the candidate maintains academic standing after the first semester of study, the award is renewable for an additional year or for the full three or four semesters of the selected Master’s program.
Qualifications:
This program is for you if you are among the top students in your year, have passed, or are completing an excellent bachelor’s degree, regardless of your home university! To be considered for an Excellence Fellowship, you must be accepted into the Master’s program of your choice and be chosen based solely on your application.
Required Documents
Each student must complete the enrollment process as outlined on the website of the admissions office for their application to be taken into consideration.
A copy of your UNIGE card or, if you are not yet enrolled, the email from the central administration titled “Your application to UNIGE”—which serves as documentation that you have begun the matriculation process—is needed.
The application (in either English or French) needs to have a SINGLE PDF file containing the following documents:
- A scan of your passport or national identity card.
- A Curriculum Vitae (no more than two pages).
- The transcript of all grades earned on tests taken during a bachelor’s degree.
- A letter of motivation outlining your reasons for wanting to enroll in the University of Geneva’s Master of Science program as well as your particular scientific interests.
- If at all possible, two professor’s letters of recommendation attesting to your suitability for the program should be provided immediately to Excellence-Master-Sciences@unige.ch.
- Any additional relevant data, such as GRE (General Requirements Examination), TOEFL, or other language test results.
How To Apply?
Online applications are accepted starting in January of each year. Following your registration, you will get an email with a unique link that will let you complete the application.
The next deadline for applications is February 28, 2024 (beginning on September 16, 2024 for Masters students).
The application file will not be taken into consideration if any of the aforementioned clauses are not fulfilled.
