Study Abroad: Wells Mountain Foundation Scholarships 2024

Under the Empowerment Through Education (ETE) initiative, the Wells Mountain Foundation offers undergraduate scholarships to citizens of developing nations so they can pursue their studies at home or in a nearby nation.

The Foundation mandates that all recipients of scholarships volunteer for a minimum of 100 hours annually because it recognizes the value and effectiveness of community service.

Scholarship Details

Host Institution(s): Any educational institution of your choice, either in your nation of origin or another developing nation

Study Level/Field(s):

A bachelor’s degree in any subject is required, but applications from students interested in studying medicine and health sciences, community development, law, education, social work, business, information technology, agriculture, or engineering are encouraged, as these fields will most benefit their local communities.

Scholarship worth:

ETE scholarships are awarded to recipients during their undergraduate studies and range in value from $300 to USD 3000 annually. Scholarships are often awarded for $1500. Scholarships can cover various associated expenditures (such as lodging and board) as well as tuition, fees, books, and supplies.

Qualifications:

The ideal applicant for the WMF is a student, regardless of gender, from a developing nation who possesses:

• Be 35 years old or younger on March 1, 2024;
• Completed secondary school successfully and received good to excellent marks;
• Plans to pursue further education in their home country or another developing nation.
• Is pursuing a bachelor’s degree or diploma for the first time;
• Will be enrolled in a program of study that will benefit the community and/or contribute to the ongoing growth and advancement of his or her home country;
• Has pledged to give back to the community by volunteering before applying;
• They may have some additional funds available for their education, but they will not be able to pursue their tertiary degree without financial assistance.

Applications for consideration for the upcoming academic year must be received by March 1st of each year. WMI Scholars are chosen by a thorough, multi-step review procedure. On August 1, an email will be sent to the chosen WMI Scholars. Additionally, their names will appear on the WMI Facebook page on the homepage of our website. After August 1, those who are not chosen will also receive notification.

WMI Scholars and Staff members’ families are not permitted to apply.

Please be aware that using unattributed ideas and information produced by other people as well as using unattributed content produced by artificial intelligence is plagiarism and violates WMI’s standards and objectives. If it is discovered that an applicant plagiarized their essay, they will not be eligible for a scholarship.

Applicants for a WMI Scholarship who intend to study in the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, or Western Europe will not be eligible.

Advice on How to Become a Strong Application

Here are some ideas to improve your application:

• Keep track of everything you do for the community (dates, events, hours worked, pictures, etc.)
• To evaluate your findings, gather your transcript from secondary school, your national exam scores, and the grading keys.
• Get two reference letters on formal letterhead from two individuals who are acquainted with you both personally and professionally and who can attest to the reasons you are deserving of this scholarship.
• Get all of your paperwork translated into the English language.

Required Documents:

Up to March 1, 2024, qualifying applicants may submit their applications. We strongly advise you to read the Frequently Asked Questions for Prospective Scholars paper and the WMI Scholar Program Information Sheet before submitting your application. These two documents will help you apply and will also help you determine if you are eligible.

For an application to be deemed complete, it must contain the following components:

• Crystal-clear personal photo
• Essay (the application form specifies the topic)
• Application form for 2024
• Statement for personal essay
• Two letters of recommendation* An official transcript of secondary school grades
• Official secondary school grade interpretation key
• a formal transcript of any postsecondary education you may have completed
• Official grading key for understanding university grades
• official findings from your national examination
• Official grading guide to help you understand your national test results

The format of recommendation letters varies among cultures. To help candidates find recommendation letters that will support their application, we have developed Guidelines for Effective Application-Recommendation Letters. Go over this document and give it to the people who will be composing your letters of recommendation.

The official grading keys for the national test must be supplied by the government or the school that gives the grades. If you use non-official grading keys, your application will be rejected. For this paper, get in touch with your government, university, or secondary school.
