POSITION: Brewing Engineer
Guinness Ghana Breweries maintains two facilities and produces five types of drinks: stout, lager, RTD, non-alcoholic malt, and mainstream spirits, as well as spirits distribution.

As the supply function, we will produce quality items in a safe environment at competitive prices, on schedule, and without faults.
The post holder will need to develop, support, and implement specific plans to meet standards.
The purpose of the function
- Lead the shift and provide Asset Care functional expertise across the area/site at tiers 1 and
- Asset Care Technicians support the day-to-day asset care support staff in resolving advanced equipment problems.
- Actively lead and sponsor CAPEX and innovation activities at the site level
- Lead and advocate for effective governance in internal and external compliance (health and safety, quality, and environmental).
- Continuous Improvement – responsible for specialty improvement activities.
- Provide high-level specialist support to operations teams.
- Proactively lead performance analysis, which promotes improvement activities to address poor performance patterns.
- Lead the rollout of MMS Asset Care within your areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate with Operating Equipment Manufacturers to accelerate problem-solving and increase plant availability.
- Support the delivery of exceptional performance in all parts of the balanced scorecard (safety, quality, environment, asset care, delivery, efficiency, cost, and morale).
Qualifications
Entry-level requirements: abilities and experience.
- BSc Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university with 5 years of working experience in an MFCG OR HND Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of working experience.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience in operations, relevant IBD certificate (General Certificate in Spirits/Beer Packaging) or willingness to complete, and experience. Crucial
- Ability to manage people’s performance, mentor, and establish a multidisciplinary team.
- Detailed thorough grasp and shown skill in all aspects of plant in this domain.
- Proactive organised problem-solving skills gained via exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or Manex
- Expert knowledge of RCPS, 5S, Setup Time Reduction, and Autonomous Maintenance
- Basic financial awareness, knowledge of business drivers, and budgeting procedures.
- Proficient at using typical business software (MS Office) and Diageo packages.
- Project management abilities and expertise.
- Track record of maintenance management: KPI improvement, planning efficiency and alignment, CI
Desirable
- Good understanding of environmental legislation and standards.
- Outstanding People Management Practices
- Commercial knowledge of production and supply chain management. Financially aware: CAPEX, R&M.
- Expertise in ME, packaging, lean approaches, process control, RCM, SAP (or MRP systems), planned maintenance, environmental systems, and quality management.
Key Accountabilities
- Always ensure alignment with health and safety, environmental, and quality requirements, as well as compliance with maintenance regulatory criteria.
- Lead the implementation of MMS Asset Care practices in the shift asset care teams and the support team.
- Lead the professional support team to maximise equipment availability.
- Ensure that the asset care team completes all scheduled specialist improvement activities.
- Attend daily asset care review meetings and take relevant actions to provide support to course correct non-conformance.
- Continuously strives for higher levels of performance through reviews of Autonomous
- Maintenance, Asset Care, and Focused Improvement.
- Ensure efficient management of spare components.
- Take control of the asset care budget and ensure that the most cost-effective options are implemented.
- Develop team morale, recognise exceptional performance, and take quick action to remediate underperformance as needed.
- Model and coach your team on how to use problem-solving tools.
- Lead improvement projects with specific knowledge and DMAIC approach.
- Participate in the daily operational review meetings to raise, debate, and follow up on persistent performance issues for root cause problem-solving and effective control.
