POSITION: Agronomist

The Role
- Our agronomist will oversee all parts of our 207-acre forest in Ghana’s Central Region.
- Help with reforestation plans at all levels.
- Understand and engage in large-scale clearance operations and site excavations.
- Evaluate potential places for forest reclamation and rehabilitation operations.
- Manage inventory and work resources such as nurseries, sites, seeding, planting, weeding, and trimming.
- Harvest seeds and cultivate young trees.
- Examine research and literature related to recent findings in the discipline.
- Examine health and safety facts specific to the field, region, and time of year.
- Collect field and control samples of biological and non-living material for analysis.
- Take forest measurements, such as species, height, diameter, age, and quality.
- Enforce fire rules to safeguard forests.
- Use GIS or land technology to survey, measure, and map forest tracts and access roads.
- Evaluate new growth or repaired areas.
- Supervise the application of organic herbicides and insecticides for pest, weed, and disease control.
- Ensure that forest operations comply with applicable regulations.
- Inspect the sites for environmental field reports.
- Work in remote areas in any weather conditions.
- Process the specimens and samples.
- Have a working knowledge of every species.
- Soil and compost testing.
- This role reports directly to the CEO.
Academic/professional Qualification
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in agronomy is desirable, although a degree in farming or agriculture from a recognized tertiary institution will suffice.
Work Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years’ post-qualification job experience.
- Must have completed one year of National Service.
- Bonus points if you’ve previously worked for the Forestry Commission or a similar organization.

SALARY: PAY GHC 2000–3000
