ROLE: Regional Gender Equality Consultant

Job Description.
The selected consultant will collaborate closely with our Gender Specialists to develop a comprehensive Gender Equality Strategy adapted to the unique settings of Ethiopia and Ghana. This plan aims to address fundamental gender imbalances and promote inclusivity across multiple sectors.
Required Skill or Experience
Consulting firms and individual consultants are invited to express their interest. Consultants should have the following qualifications:
- A master’s degree or equivalent in international development studies, gender studies, or a similar field;
- At least 10 years of relevant expertise in establishing gender strategies for development projects and programs, preferably in the context of Global Affairs Canada initiatives and related subject: Nutrition, Maternal Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH), Gender Equality and Equity, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), and so on.
- Demonstrated talent for strategic thinking, as well as competence in global gender equality and revolutionary initiatives.
- Knowledge of broader problems of gender equality and women’s empowerment;
- Practical experience adopting Global Affairs Canada’s Policy on Gender Equality (Feminist International Assistance Policy).
- Experience in developing gender mainstreaming strategies, employing gender analysis methods to monitor and assess projects and programs, and performing programmatic gender reviews or audits;
- Knowledge and awareness of national institutional, legal, and policy frameworks affecting women’s status in the selected countries (Ghana and Ethiopia) are valuable advantages.
- Familiarity with Nutrition, Maternal Neonatal Child Health (MNCH), Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programs in East and West African countries or in developing country contexts;
- Knowledge of Northern Ghana and Northern Ethiopia environments is preferred and considered a good asset.
- Proficient in English communication and reporting, as well as data collecting, research, and writing. Capability to examine, edit, and synthesize field reports, analyze data, communicate outcomes, and create high-quality reports;
- Excellent communication and presenting skills.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to function well in a cross-cultural environment.

- A sample from a previous gender analysis study or research effort. If possible, include a recent gender audit/analysis report and the instruments utilized to collect data.
- One or two references to related studies.
