ROLE: Senior Subsea Engineer
General Responsibilities
- Ensures that EHS requirements are incorporated into all elements of subsea activity. Contributes actively to achieving good operational EHS performance.
- In charge of good engineering and subsea operational planning. Lead the analysis and monitoring of the inventory of subsea equipment, allocating and servicing all subsea-related equipment and spares.
- Supervises the country section of the XT construction.
- Attends the contractor’s construction site in accordance with the inspection and testing plan. Is there a point of contact for subsea Christmas tree installation from a light construction vessel?
- Ensures that all subsea activities are carried out in accordance with corporate standards and government laws.
- Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with Subsea Specifications and agreed-upon contractual scopes of work.
- Ensure that all materials and service suppliers meet the quality assurance requirements.
- Investigate and resolve operational quality issues involving subsea contractors’ equipment and operational activities.
- Assists the Subsea Lead in managing service contracts and the contractor performance process.
- As needed, provide subsea feedback to the good engineering team and its delivery targets. Appropriate time management is necessary to provide facility coverage as needed.
- Develop successful relationships with internal/external stakeholders and service providers, and interact professionally with them.
Particular Responsibilities
HSE
- Ensures that all actions under their supervision are carried out in accordance with HSE standards.
- As needed, participate in HSE audits of contractor facilities. It is necessary to participate in HSE incident investigations.
Operational
- Is the operational subject matter expert (SME) for the rig-based use of subsea Christmas tree and subsea test tree systems, and as such, is expected to be well-versed in all operational aspects of contractors’ equipment for both primary and contingency operations. Is supposed to serve as the operational liaison between the scopes of subsea contractors and all other well-engineering parties. Ensures that subsea equipment supplied by the contractor and owned by the contractor is correctly equipped to support the rig program. As needed, participates in operational after-action reviews and forums.
- Ensures that contractor offshore subsea service teams are up to the task. Manages contractor service team changes to ensure required people quality is maintained. As needed, provide subsea engineering support for the rig program’s site implementation.
- Liaise with rig-based subsea workers to aid in arranging a corrective line of action if the scheduled operation is deviated from.
- As needed, assist well engineering professionals in providing proactive input into the planning of deviations to offshore operations.
- As needed, provide feedback into offshore work instructions.
- Coordinates subsea xmas tree installation planning, execution, and after-action evaluation operations with construction vessel staff.
- Ensures that well-engineered equipment and technical information for such tasks are prepared in accordance with quality and time requirements.
- Is the representative responsible for providing final clearance on any aftermarket or warranty work on owned equipment?
- Is the representative responsible for approving the acceptance of newly bought equipment and spares? Liaise with and aid in the coordination of TPIs in order to efficiently manage the operations of subsea contractors’ job scopes?
- Is willing to take up the position of Subsea Supervisor on rig or vessel activities if manpower requirements necessitate.
- As needed, assists the Subsea Lead with the execution of subsea contractor contracts.
Make a Christmas Tree
- Acts as the contractor’s representative at the Christmas tree build facility, monitoring Christmas tree kit build activities from a technical and schedule standpoint.
- Is the representative responsible for carrying out the agreed-upon Christmas tree build inspection and test plan, including witnessing, holding, and monitoring points as needed?
- Is the representative providing final sign-off on new-build subsea trees after the build process has been completed successfully in the subsea contractor’s facility?
- As needed, assist the Subsea Lead with the delivery of newly built Christmas trees.
Ongoing Improvement
- Ensures that continual improvement and lessons learned are collected and applied to rig and contractor activities.
- Works with QA/QC engineers to create and close out subsea-related FIRs and onshore NCRs inside the system.
- Participates in on-site and off-site after-action reviews as needed.
- Plan and carry out frequent performance assessments with subsea contractors in accordance with contract and operational requirements.
Risk management
- Participates in hazard assessments and HAZOPs for wells and operations.
- Participates in the development and review of the well-risk register.
Economic
- As part of the invoicing process, it evaluates and, when necessary, approves contractor timesheets to ensure that they appropriately represent the services received and are in accordance with the contract or PO under which the services are provided.
- Examines CTRs provided by the contractor for technical completeness and contractual alignment. Initiate requisitions as needed.
- As needed, communicates with C&P, cost engineering, and accounts payable professionals to ensure the proper execution of well-engineered tasks.
Qualifications
- An engineering degree or a higher-level technical college engineering qualification accompanied by relevant vocational training and experience
- Excellent supervisory/management and interpersonal abilities Excellent technical/operational knowledge of well servicing, completions, and drilling
- Understanding and application of safety management systems Interpersonal skills are required to develop positive working relationships with the team.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Proficient in IT and industry software (e.g., MS Suite).
- Is your offshore survival certification current? When working on stand-alone units, good reporting and communication skills are required to keep direct supervisors informed.
Experience
- Minimum of ten years experience with operating businesses as a rig-based subsea supervisor.
- Working in distant places and in West Africa, knowledge and experience in the design and installation of horizontal subsea Xmas trees and subsea test tree systems.
- Experience with subsea completions in water depths of more than 800 meters in the last two years.
- Previous experience and knowledge of subsea Xmas build and testing.
