Clinton Health Access Initiative Job Opportunity

ROLE: Senior Associate, Non-Communicable Diseases

Heart disease, cancer, chronic respiratory illness, and diabetes are now the leading causes of death worldwide, outnumbering communicable diseases. According to the WHO, NCDs kill at least 41 million people each year, accounting for 71% of all deaths globally. More than 41% of these deaths are preventable and afflict adults under 70.

At least 85% of NCD deaths occur in LMICs. Cardiovascular disorders kill most people, followed by cancer, respiratory diseases, and diabetes. Over the next decade, low- and middle-income countries will see a surge in NCD disease and death.

In 2015, CHAI launched a cancer program, and by 2022, it had added diabetes and cardiovascular disease programs. The new programs will increase commodity procurement, decentralize NCD diagnosis and care, and build policy conditions for long-term country support for NCD management in LMICs with country governments, high-quality manufacturers, and global and local partners. In-country and worldwide teams help with NCD projects like market structuring for NCD commodities. CHAI needs a Senior Associate for NCD in-country activities and market shaping. This will require 25-40% international travel.

We want a driven person with strong strategic, analytical, communication, and leadership skills. The Senior Associate will exhibit CHAI values including innovation, entrepreneurship, flexibility, independence, humility, and work ethic. The NCD Manager will supervise the Senior Associate.

We emphasize fairness, respect, equality, and decency in our inclusive workplace. We oppose discrimination and harassment and aim to create an inclusive environment for people of all races, colors, religions, sexual orientations, ethnicities, national origins, ages, disabilities, HIV status, political or interest group affiliations, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, parental or pregnancy status, and other characteristics. We encourage submissions from diverse backgrounds.
