How Bad Is It Really to Mix Different Types of Alcohol
The three main types of alcohol are beer, wine, and spirits. Although it is said, that variety is the spice of life, it is better to avoid drinking or mixing them together. There is a notion that mixing alcohol can lead to alcohol poisoning or a worse hangover.
Many studies have provided evidence both for and against the fact that mixing different types of alcohol puts you at a higher risk than single types of alcohol.
Also, studies have shown that consuming a large amount of alcohol comes with negative side effects. It is important to keep your eye on how much you are consuming rather than how many types of alcohol have been mixed.
EFFECTS OF MIXING ALCOHOL ON THE BODY
Alcohol is a depressant for the central nervous system. Alcohol slows down the activity of the brain. More alcohol is introduced into the body when you mix alcohol.
Ethanol is the main ingredient in most alcoholic drinks and that is responsible for the effects of alcohol on the body.
Hangover
The effect of alcohol is that you experience a hangover after drinking more than the body can contain. Certain alcohols are more likely to give you a hangover than others because of the congeners present in them. Congeners are chemicals that are found in alcohol. They are either added or formed during fermentation. Congeners like methanol and furfural may be found in some, but not all, types of alcohol.
By mixing different alcohols, you may be consuming a higher amount of congeners unknowingly and this can lead to Nausea, hangover, and dizziness the next morning.
EFFECTS OF DRINKING TOO MUCH ALCOHOL

There is an adage that every drinker knows very well: “Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Liquor before beer, you’re in the clear,” is one of them; “Beer before wine and you’ll feel fine”. This adage means that mixing alcohol is bad.
Despite this saying, mixing your alcoholic beverage will not make you more intoxicated than drinking the same amount of one type. Actually, there has not been any evidence that mixing alcohol is bad.
