3 Best Foods to Eat Before Drinking Alcohol (and 2 to Avoid)
Most of us have had a night where we drank more than one bottle of alcoholic drink and woke up feeling terrible. What you eat before hanging out with friends for a bottle or shots of alcohol is very important. This is because it affects how you will feel at the end of the night or the day after.
Taking in the right food can help control your hunger and reduce the impact associated with drinking alcohol. On the other side, taking in some foods before drinking can result in bloating, dehydration and indigestion. Here are some foods that are good to eat before drinking and what to avoid.
FOODS YOU CAN EAT BEFORE DRINKING
1 . Eggs
Eggs are very nutritious and have a high protein filling. Eating protein-rich food like eggs before consuming alcohol will slow your body’s absorption of the alcohol. Also because eggs are rich in protein, they make you feel fuller for a long time and that will reduce the effect of eating too much because you are drunk.
Alcohol is also known to increase your appetite, therefore, choosing a meal that makes you full for a long time is the best choice to minimize cravings later on. Eggs can be eaten in many forms. You can enjoy them scrambled, poached, boiled, or mixes with any vegetables of your choice.
2 . Banana
Banana is a fruit that is high in potassium and this may prevent electrolyte imbalances that are associated with alcohol consumption. When we drink alcohol, especially in an excessive manner, our body loses potassium. Therefore when we eat foods that are rich in potassium before drinking, it can help boost the amount of potassium in our body.
3 . Salmon
It is one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids. It is also said to be rich in Vitamin B12. These two nutrients help in reducing the effect of alcohol consumption on the body. For it to be the best pre-drinking meal, roast the salmon with some spices of your choice and serve it with vegetables of your choice.
FOODS TO AVOID BEFORE DRINKING

1 . Processed foods with refined sugar

Sugary drinks, packaged chips, and other processed foods should not be consumed because they are absorbed quickly by the body and therefore cannot protect the body from the aftermaths of taking alcohol
2 . Caffeine

Taking foods high in caffeine will power you for the night but will dehydrate you as well.
