Study In USA: University of Virginia Scholarships 2024

There are several degree levels for which University of Virginia scholarships are available, including undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and research program courses. Aside from university-based scholarships, numerous other organizations, such as foundations, trusts, and corporations, also provide international scholarships, grants, and fellowships to students residing outside of the nation in which the university is located.

Our primary responsibility is to give you accurate information regarding the University of Virginia Scholarship for the 2024–2025 academic year and a list of scholarships available to international students.

Concerning University of Virginia

Thomas Jefferson launched a daring experiment in 1819 when he established the University of Virginia. The public university’s goals are to increase human knowledge, train leaders, and foster informed citizens.

Almost 200 years later, this concept is still very much alive. Students, teachers, staff, and alumni at UVA challenge norms, shatter boundaries, and work for the greater good both on campus and beyond.

The University is a recognizable public higher education institution with a strong reputation as a top research university, nationally recognized schools and programs, a diversified and eminent faculty, and a significant academic medical center. A strong NCAA Division I athletics program, ongoing support for the arts, and active student self-governance all contribute to the university’s community and culture.

The University of Virginia, now in its third century, provides a world-class education at a reasonable cost and is regularly rated among the best in the country.

Being one of the top public universities in the country, UVA always strives to do what’s best for society at large. This is made possible, in part, by an unwavering dedication to projects that develop, fortify, and reshape our organization.

Qualifications for Scholarships at the University of Virginia

Be Enrolled in an Approved Degree

For students to be eligible for any financial aid from the university, they must be enrolled in an authorized degree-seeking program. Both the Graduate Record and the Undergraduate Record contain a list of programs and degrees. Financial aid from the university is available to students enrolled in authorized study abroad programs or in one of its exchange programs. The Office of International Studies has a list of authorized study abroad and exchange programs.

Credit Hours

Undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time, meaning they must take at least twelve credit hours per semester, to be eligible for a complete financial assistance award package. Federal regulations and institutional norms may require undergraduates to have their financial aid award decreased if they gain prior consent from their dean to enroll in less than a full-time course load. However, to be eligible for financial assistance, students must typically maintain a minimum of six credit hours.

To qualify for federal financial aid, graduate students at UVA must enroll at least half-time and complete six credit hours of coursework or non-topical, research, or thesis work each semester of the academic year.

The university will not give students financial help to attend another institution unless it has a legitimate consortium agreement on file for a study abroad program. Before enrolling in coursework at another university in the hopes that UVA may provide financial help, students should always speak with SFS.

Eligible non-citizens or U.S. citizens may apply.

To qualify for federal, state, and university financial aid, students must be citizens of the United States or be categorized as eligible non-citizens. For students to be deemed eligible non-citizens, they must fall into one of the following categories:

Citizen who was not born in the US

  • A Certificate of Citizenship (Needs to know the name of the student, the certificate number, and the issuance date.)
  • The student’s name, certificate number, alien registration number, court name, and date of naturalization must all be included on the Certificate of Naturalization.
  • Birth Certificate from Outside the Country (The embossed seals “State Department” and “United States of America” are required.)
