Scholarships at the University of Chicago Based on Merit

We are pleased to offer the following scholarship opportunities, many of which also come with additional support elements: University of Chicago

University Scholarship:

A university scholarship worth a percentage of their tuition for four years will be awarded to exceptional pupils.

First Phoenix Scholarship:

Each first-generation college student will get a $20,000 scholarship spread over four years.

Scholarship for Police and Fire:

As a way to honor our nation’s public safety personnel, the offspring of municipal, county, and state police and firemen who passed away in the line of duty or while on duty are eligible to apply for up to four years of full-tuition scholarships.

Odyssey Scholarship Program:

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor named “Homer” and additional support from friends and former university classmates, the Odyssey Scholarship program provides increased educational, financial, and career assistance to students from low-income families or who are the first in their community to attend college.

Neubauer Adelante Scholarship Program:

Through these measures, financial support for students who belong to Hispanic/Latino populations is improved.

University of Chicago Promise:

Through this program, students from the Chicagoland area can receive financial aid as well as other benefits.

Chicago Public School Students: Magnificent Graduates of Chicago Public Schools will be eligible for full tuition-covering scholarships for up to four years.

Chicago Public Schools Teachers: In appreciation of their commitment to the city and community, a select group of outstanding students taught by current Chicago full-time teachers and non-leadership staff at community colleges will earn up to four years of full-tuition scholarships.

Partner schools: Nicholas Senn High School, Providence St. Mel School, Kenwood Academy High School, University of Chicago Charter School Woodlawn Campus, and outstanding students from our area will be awarded full-tuition, and four-year scholarships.

City Colleges of Chicago: Under the CCC Star Program, worthy alumni of City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) will be awarded first-year tuition subsidies.

Evans Scholarships:

The Evans Scholars Program provides full housing and tuition support to deserving club members.

Stand Together:

Improved financial aid and faculty support are made available to veterans and students from historically underrepresented groups through the University of Chicago Stand Together project.

Trot Scholar:

The Trott Scholarship, which is awarded for four years, will go to exceptional full-time students from small towns.

Veterans:

As a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Initiative, the University of Chicago.

Prizes offered to interns for their deserving work consist of:

  • Following the first, second, and third year, Argonne Laboratories, Fermi Laboratories, or the Marine Biological Laboratory offer $6000 for summer research, along with $1500 in travel expenses for academic conference presentations.
  • A $37,500 four-year offer for Provost’s Scholars is made.
  • The $5,000 President’s Scholar award can be used for a particular research project, an internship, or graduate-level courses taken over two summers prior to the second, third, or fourth year of study.
  • The Dean’s Scholar program provides $5000 for a particular research study, an internship, or graduate-level coursework during the summer preceding a student’s second, third, or fourth year of study.
  • Following a year of social science coursework, Meriam Scholars award $5,000 for a summer research project.
  • A $5,000 summer research project grant is given by the Fermi Scholar after the first year of physical sciences.
  • For a summer research project, the Rudolf Carnap Scholar grants $5,000 to students enrolled in their first year of humanities studies.
  • Following a year of biological science coursework, a $5,000 summer research project is awarded by the Rowley Scholar.

External Scholarships:

We also encourage students to apply for scholarships from outside areas, regardless of where they want to attend college. Our Financial Aid Office has created an index of external scholarships.

The University of Chicago and RaiseMe, a platform that allows students to earn and accrue micro-scholarships based on their high school achievements, are pleased partners of this initiative. There are new and growing collaborations in addition to those with Turning the Tide, the College Board, Making Caring Common, Nudge for College, and the Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success.
