Study In UK: University Of Manchester Humanitarian Scholarships 2024

Interested in studying at one of the world’s top universities in the UK? Your desire has finally come true. This article comprehensively addresses the requirements, application process, and deadline for the University of Manchester Humanitarian Scholarships, which are available to both international and domestic students.

    Scholarship program information

The University of Manchester Humanitarian Scholarships were established in reaction to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. They are available to international applicants who have been displaced due to armed conflict or are at high risk of persecution or violence based on race, religion, nationality, membership in a specific social group, or political opinion.

The scholarship is completely supported. Ten undergraduate and ten postgraduate-taught positions are available in the first year. Successful applicants will have their fees, living expenses, and visas reimbursed. The plan is anticipated to require an annual operating cost of approximately £5 million.

    Regarding the University of Manchester

The University of Manchester is a prestigious Russell Group institution situated in the north of England, in the vibrant city of Manchester. It is a recent addition to the prestigious universities in Britain, created in 2004 by the merger of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and the Victoria University of Manchester.

However, its origins may be traced back to 1824, when the Mechanics’ Institute was established. The University is a source of tremendous pride for many Mancunians, and citizens of Manchester, as Manchester was the world’s first industrial metropolis, making the University one of the top choices in the UK for engineering and sciences.

It is the largest single-site university in the UK and the second-largest overall in the UK, with more than 40,000 students, including 27,000 undergraduates. The University of Manchester was rated 6th in the 2018–2019 QS World University Rankings.

The university has notable graduates, including Ernest Rutherford, who was part of the university’s academic faculty in 1909 and was the first to split the atom. The university has 25 Nobel Prize winners among its former faculty and students.

While commonly labeled as a campus university, the university does not strictly fit this description. The University of Manchester, with its red-brick academic buildings and amenities spread around the town of over 500,000 residents, plays a crucial role in the city. The university is primarily divided into two sections known as the ‘North Campus’ and the ‘South Campus’.

    Academic Affairs

The University of Manchester has the highest number of full-time students in the United Kingdom. The institution is highly global, with a diverse student body representing 154 nations worldwide.

It is a research-focused university, ranking 6th in research income among English universities. In 2015, a post-graduation employability ranking by Emerging placed Manchester 5th in the nation.

The university boasts a remarkable scientific heritage, as evidenced by the development of both the contraceptive pill and the first functional computer by its academic staff. Nevertheless, science is not its sole strength. In 2006, The Sunday Times declared that Manchester is highly regarded in various fields, particularly biological sciences, engineering, humanities, economics, sociology, and social sciences. Smaller, more individualized seminars for students supplement the majority of lectures used in instruction.

The number of contact hours a student will have varies depending on the course, with some having more than others. English literature students will have much fewer contact hours compared to medicine students.
