The SINGA program

The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a partnership among the Agency for Science, Technology, & Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and the Singapore Management University (SMU).

PhD training is conducted in English in the selected laboratories of A*STAR research institutes and NTU/NUS/SUTD/SMU. NTU, NUS, SUTD, or SMU are the universities that award students a PhD after they have completed their studies.

  • You are required to be an international student.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is mandatory.

  • There are no age limitations for anyone applying to SINGA.
  • The application requires a valid passport, so you must create and upload a copy of your passport.

Required Documents

Before submitting your application, it is essential to gather and organize the necessary documents.

Please refrain from sending any physical documents to the SINGA Office. It is required to submit all essential documents on the internet.

  • A Passport
  • A current passport-sized photograph (in .jpeg or .png format)
  • Transcripts & Reports: It is required that all transcripts are translated into English.

Compulsory

  • Academic transcripts for bachelor’s and/or master’s degrees.
  • Please provide your bachelor’s degree certificate(s) or scroll(s), or a letter of certification from the university confirming your candidature if your degree certificate or scroll has not yet been officially bestowed.
  • Two recommendation reports need to be filled out and submitted electronically by the referees.
  • Applicants who are applying to NUS supervisors/projects must include their GRE results in their SINGA application form.
  • All candidates, excluding some individuals, may be required by the university to provide good GRE scores as a prerequisite for admission.
  • The university may request the submission of IELTS / TOEFL / SAT I & II / GATE results for admission, but it is not mandatory.

  • Kindly ensure that you submit your application for the appropriate scholarship, namely the “Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA),” using the application portal after logging in.
  • Kindly refrain from sending any physical papers to the SINGA Office by mail.
  • Kindly ensure that you submit your applications at the earliest opportunity. By allowing sufficient time for your referees to submit their online recommendation reports before the application deadline, we ensure that only applications including 2 recommendation reports will be considered.
  • Before applying, please verify and confirm the accuracy and correctness of all the data you have supplied in the online application form. Modifications to the application will be prohibited once it has been submitted.

Deadline for submitting the application

The deadline for submitting applications for the August 2024 intake is 1 December 2023 at 2359hrs GMT +8 Singapore Time.

Only those who have been selected for further consideration will get a notification within 12 weeks from the date when applications are no longer being accepted.
