The Macquarie University Sydney Australia Graduate Research Scholarships for the 2024–2025 academic year are available to international students. The scholarship provides funding for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. programs in any subject offered at Macquarie University. The scholarship’s deadline is April 30, 2024.

Tuition Fee Offset:
Recipients may obtain assistance to pay for their tuition expenses, alleviating the financial strain linked to their selected academic program.
Stipend:
Scholarships might include a stipend, which is financial support provided to cover necessary living expenses while pursuing academic studies.
Supplementing Living Allowance:
Recipients may qualify for an additional fund, augmenting their financial assistance beyond the regular stipend.
A choice between a fixed sum or a one-time payment:
- Certain scholarships may offer a predetermined amount or a single payment, granting recipients extra financial support.
- Scholarships are available to cover the expenses of Overseas Student Health Care (OSHC) and/or visa applications for international students.
- Starting January 1, 2024, Macquarie University will implement a significant nine percent rise in the standard stipend rate for graduate researchers. The revised stipend rate will be established at $35,000 per year for individuals who are enrolled full-time.
- The scholarship for students following the Bachelor of Philosophy program has a significant value of $5000 per session, which is distributed as a single payment. The purpose of this financial assistance is to mitigate the academic costs associated with the Bachelor of Philosophy program.
Eligible Nationalities:
This grant is available to students from any country. (except Australia and New Zealand).
Requirements for eligibility:
1. Educational prerequisites:
Prospective candidates must satisfy the specified academic criteria to be eligible for admission to their preferred postgraduate research program. Typically, this requires obtaining a bachelor’s degree with either first or upper-second-class honours, or a master’s degree with a significant research component.
2. Proficiency in the English language:
Meeting the English language standards of the university is crucial. Starting on February 27, 2024, Macquarie University will accept the Duolingo English Test (DET) for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as long as the test taker achieves a minimum score of 95. Applicants are required to exhibit a high level of English language ability to guarantee effective communication and achieve academic achievement.
3. Research Alignment:
The candidate’s study must be in line with the priorities and resources for research at Macquarie University. An alignment between the research topic and the university’s strategic priority areas increases the probability of a successful scholarship application.
4. Students from other countries:
The scholarships generally focus on overseas students who are neither citizens of Australia or New Zealand, nor Australian permanent residents.
