Study In Australia: University of South Australia International Students Scholarships 2024
Annually, almost 2,500 students at the University of South Australia get scholarships and awards valued at millions of dollars.
We invite high-achieving students from underdeveloped countries who are sponsored by the Australian government initiative, the Australia Awards. There are about 500 students who receive financial aid from their home country, university, or employer.
University of South Australia Scholarships
Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship
Recipients will get a 50% decrease in their student contributions (tuition costs) for the entire term of their degree, or a maximum of four years of full-time study (undergraduate or postgraduate degree via coursework).
Scholarship requirements
- Aspire to be an international student
- Meet the eligibility requirements to study in Australia.
- You have not accepted any other UniSA scholarship or bursary.
- Meet the standard entrance criteria for the chosen degree program.
- You have attained a high distinction average in previous studies at UniSA.
- Fulfill the minimal English language prerequisites for the desired degree program.
- Once you meet the eligibility criteria and submit the scholarship application form, you will receive notification of the outcome along with your academic degree assessment. Eligible individuals who did not submit the completed form will still receive an invitation to apply.
Scholarship requirements
- Scholarship recipients must be enrolled full-time at UniSA’s South Australian campuses.
- Scholarship winners must uphold a grade point average of 5.0 or above to continue receiving scholarship payments.
- Scholarship payments can be obtained for a maximum of four years.
- If the recipient’s cumulative grade point average drops below 5.0, the 50% discount will not be deducted from the subsequent bill. Once the awardee’s grade point average reaches 5.0 or higher, the 50% discount will resume and be deducted from the following invoice.
- Successful applicants will get a 50% discount on their student contribution invoice for tuition costs at the beginning of the study session.
- As a scholarship recipient, I am not eligible to obtain any credit, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), or Advanced Standing, either at the time of the offer or thereafter.
- The scholarship cannot be postponed.
Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarships are unavailable for:
- Australian nationals or anyone with permanent residency in Australia
- Students who receive financial support from either a foreign government or the Australian government
- Research applicants pursuing advanced degrees
- Existing UniSA students
- Unsuccessful candidates for the Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence program
Applicants will automatically be evaluated for the International Merit Scholarship.
International Merit Scholarship
Recipients will get a 15% decrease in their student contributions (tuition costs) throughout their selected degree program.
Scholarship requirements
- Aspire to be an international student
Qualify for studying in Australia
- Have not taken any other scholarship or bursary from UniSA.
- Meet the standard entrance criteria for the desired degree. Must have obtained a GPA of 5.0 or higher in previous studies at UniSA or have a conditional offer based on achieving a Credit average.
- Meet the minimal English language criteria for the degree program or receive a conditional offer contingent on meeting the English language requirements.
- Assessment will be automated when applying for a qualifying undergraduate or postgraduate degree at UniSA.
Scholarship requirements
College students pursuing a bachelor’s degree:
As a scholarship recipient, I can get credit, RPL, or advanced standing towards my program, but I must complete a minimum of 2 years (72 units) of on-campus study at UniSA. The 72-unit requirement for the remaining 2 years includes any credits or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) granted.
Graduate Students:
- As a scholarship recipient, you are ineligible for credit, RPL, or advanced standing due to my program’s duration being two (2) years or shorter.
- Recipients of the International Merit Scholarship must be enrolled full-time at UniSA’s South Australian campuses.
- Scholarship payments, equivalent to 15% of tuition fees, will be deducted from successful candidates’ student contribution invoices (tuition fees) at the beginning of each relevant study period.
- Scholarship awardees must uphold a grade point average (GPA) of at least 4.5 (or equivalent) to continue receiving the scholarship payments.
- If the awardee’s cumulative GPA drops below 4.5, the 15% discount will not be deducted from the subsequent invoice. Once the awardee’s grade point average reaches 4.5 or higher, the 15% discount will resume and be deducted from the following invoice.
- The scholarship cannot be postponed past the start date onshore.
- The scholarship will only be activated for students once they can begin studying in Australia after the borders reopen if they are currently studying outside of Australia.
International Merit scholarships are unavailable for:
- Australian nationals or anyone with permanent residency in Australia
- Students are sponsored by a foreign government or the Australian government through a formal arrangement with the university.
- Prospective candidates for advanced research degrees
- Existing UniSA students
- Students who have received an International Merit Scholarship before, unless they are transitioning from an undergraduate to a postgraduate program,.

Sponsorship options
Sponsored students receive financial support from their home government, university, or employer to pursue studies at UniSA. Typically, the university receives tuition money from the sponsor on behalf of the student, and the student may also get a living allowance. Sponsored students often adhere to our standard application procedure.
Financial Guarantees
Upon accepting the offer, you are required to provide a financial guarantee letter outlining:
- Please provide your full name and date of birth.
- The sponsor’s name, address, and contact information on their official letterhead
- Program and university names covered by the sponsorship
Sponsorship duration
- Includes tuition fees, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), books, printing, and other expenses.
- This will allow us to establish an account with your sponsor for your tuition costs.
