POSITION: Project Manager 

Catholic Relief Services is the US Catholic community’s international humanitarian agency. CRS saves, protects, and transforms lives in over 100 nations regardless of race, religion, or nationality. CRS’ relief and development programmes include emergency response, HIV, health, agriculture, education, microfinance, and peacebuilding.

Job Summary

CRS began working in Ghana in 1958 and today runs programmes in Agriculture and Livelihoods, Health, WASH, Migration, Youth Development and Peace Building, Gender, and Financial Inclusion. Several CRS projects are in these core programme areas. This new initiative supports interventions in important agricultural value chains: animal farming (poultry and fish); grains and cereals (maize, soybeans, groundnuts, and rice); and horticulture.

You will coordinate and report on all project operations and provide technical guidance and advice to staff and implementing partner(s) to help Catholic Relief Services (CRS) serve the poor and vulnerable. Your coordination and relationship management abilities will guarantee that your regional partners adopt best practices and consistently improve its advantages to those we serve.

You will manage, coordinate, and monitor project operations and relationships with consortium members, partners, and other project stakeholders to help Catholic Relief Services (CRS) serve the impoverished and vulnerable. Your project management abilities and programme knowledge will guarantee the CP provides high-quality programming and consistently improves this project’s impact. This job will report to the Director for Agriculture, Livelihoods, and Landscape and be based in Tamale, Ghana, with frequent travel to Northern, Oti, and Bono East Regions.

Key Duties

  • You will lead technical, budget management, monitoring, and reporting activities during project start-up, implementation, and close-out in accordance with CRS programme quality standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Manage and supervise talent well. Manage staff well-being and team chemistry. Provide coaching, strategically tailor individual development programmes, help recruit project staff, and oversee direct reports’ success.
  • Make sure learning happens throughout the project. Coordinate MEAL Policy-compliant project evaluations to increase accountability. Report issues early to inform plan and implementation modifications.
  • Engage and strengthen project-related collaborations using suitable concepts, methods, and approaches.
  • Coordinate operations to secure financial, material, and human resources for project quality. Monitor resource use with quarterly budget reviews and timely financial report submissions from partners.
  • Identify partner organisations’ staff capacity and technical assistance needs and help strengthen and deliver quality projects.
  • Help with trends analysis reports and dissemination. Make sure project documentation is complete and filed per agency and funder criteria.

Desired Qualifications

  • Project management experience for major private contributors preferred.
  • Worked on women, youth, and disability inclusion projects.
  • Managed staff before.
  • Experience building community ties and engaging with stakeholders.
  • Technical proposal development skills are a plus.
  • Analytical and evaluative report writing experience.
  • MS Windows and Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) experience.
  • Required Languages Proficient in English. Other project localities’ languages like Dagbani, Likpakpaln, Twi, Ewe, and Bassari are favoured.

Qualifications

A Basic Qualification

  • Bachelor of agriculture (Economics, Extension, Agribusiness), Business Administration, Development Finance, or Entrepreneurship needed. Master’s degree in international relations, agriculture (Economics, Extension, Agribusiness), business administration, development finance, or entrepreneurship is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of project management experience, preferably in agriculture financing, SILCs or VSLAs, agribusiness development, or NGO work.
  • Some education can be replaced by experience.
