Job Purpose

The TM role assigns a certain territory to govern. He or she is in charge of managing the designated territory and key distributor team to meet their metrics. To oversee distributor management as well as infrastructure, processes, and general operations to ensure superior channel-specific brand/category and POP vision implementation while meeting agreed-upon ROI and distribution objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the impact of geographic and demographic elements on the retail environment, and evaluate customer and channel attractiveness.
  • Implement plans developed by the line manager in the designated area.
  • Assist in determining channel priorities based on brand/channel objectives and executing action plans.
  • Interpret findings, gain shopper insight into local context/activity, and discover trends; provide advice to category managers to uncover new opportunities.
  • Identify prospects and establish a business plan by distributor that aligns with the company’s sales plan/strategies.
  • Monitor client performance to ensure target achievement and maintain agreed-upon ROI, and recommend alternatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with major customers in the area.
  • Understand the POP vision by channel, assess the quality of implantation, and recommend / drive corrective actions.
  • Analyze category/brand/SKU performance and develop a customer-specific sales plan to meet brand objectives.
  • Monitor the implementation of channel-specific actions and report on performance. Take the initiative to improve efficacy.
  • Make recommendations to improve availability and visibility (initiatives at the distributor level).
  • Launch and monitor visibility improvement activities.
  • Manage resources such as distributors, distribution managers, sales reps, and the three Ps (merchandising). Leadership & Team Management
  • Motivate and lead the team, and activate necessary networks to help achieve goals.
  • Ensures that the appropriate company guidelines are implemented.
  • Develop and develop your staff, including distributor operations managers and sales agents.
  • Identify prospects and create a business plan for each distributor every year.
  • Help the team discover and close resource and infrastructure gaps by monitoring business plan implementation, volume, value, growth, infrastructure, and resources.
  • Encourage capability development activities by coaching and sharing best practices.
  • Review teams target against performance aligned with the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Identify, plan, and implement activities to help teams enhance their performance through coaching, advice, delegating, recommendations for training, initiatives, and so on.

Experiences and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of sales experience.
  • FMCG experience is desirable.
  • University Graduate (Postgraduate qualification is optional)
  • Organizational awareness: Understand Unilever tools and best practices.
  • Experienced Leading teams
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, both in person and electronically.
  • Competencies include IT, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as team building and alignment
