ROLE: Organizational Development and People Lead

Oxfam has been working in Ghana for a long time and has strong partnerships with government institutions, Ghanaian civil society organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). These partnerships help Oxfam deliver active and innovative programs and advocacy work that aim to improve Ghanaians’ lives and make them more responsible for their actions. Oxfam works in 11 of Ghana’s 16 administrative regions right now.
The Role
To lead and help the country’s leaders create and keep an organizational culture that values teamwork, accountability, empowerment, innovation, and including everyone.
Reporting to the Country Director and working closely and collaboratively as a member of the Country Leadership Team, the role will lead and direct Oxfam in Ghana’s organizational development and human resources function, making sure that we create and keep a productive, supportive, and friendly work environment where everyone works hard to reach the organization’s mission and goals. This means taking the lead on organizational development and making sure that the design, implementation, and review of human resources management strategies are in line with the organization’s goals.
Represent Oxfam at organizational development and human resource management events and meetings, both inside and outside the organization, as needed.
Skills or Experience Needed
We want someone who is active and committed and has the following:
- Master’s degree in business administration, human resource management, or organizational development, or something similar. It is better to be a certified HR specialist.
- Ten years of experience with a variety of non-profit, business, or government groups is preferred. It is important to have a thorough understanding of how human resource management and organizational development work in a non-profit.
- Significant experience as a senior leader and manager in creating and implementing high-quality Human Resource and Organizational Development strategies.
- Experience managing complicated HR processes and relationships with a wide range of internal and external multi-cultural stakeholders from a variety of disciplines and geographical areas.
- Ability to develop high-level organizational development analysis and contribute to it.
- Being able to “think politically” means being able to understand the motivations, pressures, power dynamics, and problems that colleagues and other actors face, as well as being able to come up with good ways to influence them.
- Ability to come up with a high-level analysis of staff learning and development needs and to contribute to it.
- Proven track record of success in representing an organization with partners, government agencies, and private foundations at the senior level, both nationally and internationally.
- Shown ability to get complicated messages across in the right way to a wide range of people.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills that allow you to inspire, persuade, and negotiate.
- English language skills.
