Job Recruitment at International Justice Mission
POSITION: Manager, Casework
For almost 25 years, the International Justice Mission (IJM) has been at the forefront of efforts to protect vulnerable people from violence by strengthening the Justice System response. The Ghana office collaborates with local governments to rescue victims of trafficking, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors to safety and strength, and assist law enforcement in creating a secure future that lasts.
The Need
As we increase our global impact to protect 500 million people from abuse by 2030, we are looking for a Casework Manager to oversee the implementation of casework techniques to achieve project objectives. The Casework Manager would head a core staff team to implement a long-term approach to capacity building and collaborative casework with appropriate authorities, assisting those agencies in using legal frameworks to identify and remediate situations in a victim-entered and trauma-informed way. This is a full-time on-site role, with occasional travel to other places across the country. This position is based on the availability of donor funds.
This position is headquartered in Kumasi, Ghana, and reports to the Program Director.
Responsibilities
- Represent the International Justice Mission (IJM) in managing a project financed in part by the US Department of State.
- Collaborate appropriately with other consortium members on the grant, to ensure effective completion of grant objectives within the stipulated timeframe.
- Ensure that IJM’s theory of change is applied throughout all project activities;
- Represent IJM and its activities to external stakeholders such as donors, local and national governments, media, NGOs, and the business community.
- Collaborate with the Law Enforcement Specialist and relevant government agencies to identify capacity gaps in child trafficking response and establish capacity building milestones.
- Manage team members that provide advice in specialist areas like aftercare, law enforcement growth, and prosecutions;
- Ensure that all employees have a comprehensive knowledge of IJM’s mission, fundamental values, global vision, and project objectives;
- Ensure that grant monitoring and reporting criteria are met in a timely and high standard.
- Manage the project budget, ensuring due diligence and compliance with IJM and donor standards and rules.
- Manage and facilitate contextualized trafficking training for government officials, justice actors, and civil society leaders;
- Supervise and mentor project workers through quarterly reviews and end-of-year evaluations;
- Responsibilities include implementing high-quality project activities that fit with grantor and IJM objectives, maintaining regular communication with the Program Director on project progress, and performing additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in law, criminal justice, or a related subject.
- Experience developing strategies and methods to attain aggressive goals.
- A minimum of two years of successful experience leading and managing professional teams is required; a demonstrated ability to manage the work of lawyers, social workers, and other professionals is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated a thorough awareness of human trafficking and related legal instruments in Ghana.
- Experience managing an office/departmental budget, or equivalent financial management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, coordinate, and establish partnerships with governments, non-governmental organizations, media organizations, and local and international institutions.
- Experience managing international projects according to the highest ethical standards.

- Passionate support for IJM’s mission and principles.
- Demonstrate knowledge and a strong dedication to child protection and vulnerable populations.
