Job Title: IT Support Officer

Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is a business unit within the Sandvik Group and a prominent global supplier of mining equipment and tools, as well as service and technical solutions for rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading, hauling, and materials handling.

Position Description

The IT Support Officer will be in charge of managing service desk and help desk support, as well as assisting the Finance Manager in the implementation of group IT policies and plans and ensuring the compliance of IT service users at all times.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that end users log tickets to ITSD (Helpdesk) incidents and that users request support.
  • Identifying end-user requirements and specifications in collaboration with management, departments, and customers.
  • Manage Helpdesk tickets systematically, planning and prioritizing to reduce backlog and improve operational efficiency.
  • Assisting end users with a series of steps, either in person, by email, or over the phone, to assist in setting up systems or addressing issues.
  • Provide expert assistance with Microsoft Office 365 tools and services.
  • Maintain high levels of system and data security to ensure the integrity of the SNC network is not jeopardized.
  • Support the roll-out of new apps and solutions by providing technical assistance to project teams and taking on technical project roles as needed.
  • On a daily basis, monitor network performance and troubleshoot issue areas as needed.
  • Create and maintain efficient IT systems to fulfill the needs of business and technology.
  • Follow all SMC policies and procedures, including the SHEQ policies.

  • Show confidence in working with others by having strong written and vocal communication abilities.
  • Excellent listening skills are required while communicating with personnel and vendors. When working with suppliers and users, exhibit high levels of professionalism.
  • The ability to examine difficulties and needs, as well as find and prioritize potential solutions.
  • The ability to adapt and adjust to changing processes while continuously seeking process improvement.
  • When necessary, the ability to work flexible hours is required.
  • Capability to keep complete and accurate records.
  • Assist other staff in using various technologies. The ability to establish professional relationships with important stakeholders and end users.

Qualification

  • Computer Science / Computer Engineering HND/BSc
  • A+, N+, CCNA, and ITIL certifications are also necessary.
  • Knowledge of popular coding languages such as Python, Java, and C++, as well as frameworks, would be advantageous. Outstanding understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
  • Understanding of Object-Relational Mapping frameworks
  • Quick learning ability and ability to operate individually or as part of a team
