ROLE: Interim Finance Assistant – Support Office

Marie Stopes Ghana (MSG) was founded in 2006. It is part of MSI Reproductive Choices and is one of the biggest organizations in Ghana that focuses on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH). MSG works with the Ministry of Health and Child Care to make sure that all of Ghana’s provinces have access to high-quality, low-cost general health and SRH programs.
Marie Stopes International Ghana (MSIG) is a non-profit group that focuses on getting results and offers services for family planning, sexual and reproductive health (SRH). The goal of MSIG is to meet the needs of Ghanaians who aren’t getting enough care and to make it much easier for them to get and use family planning and other reproductive health services.
Job Description
MSI Ghana is looking for a person who is passionate, well-organized, client-focused, and full of energy, and who has the following qualifications and experience. MSI Ghana wants to meet the needs of people who aren’t getting enough care and make it easier for them to use Family Planning and other programs for sexual and reproductive health. Contract length: 6 months
The person in this job will help the Finance Department handle money and run day-to-day business.
Key Responsibilities
- Check that all requests have the right supporting papers to make payments and journal entries easier to process.
- Review of account codes, donation reporting lines, and posting of journals (Float
- Advance, Retirements, Momo, invoices, and check payments) into SUN.
- Responsible for making a weekly schedule of invoices from accepted suppliers that need to be paid.
- Monthly prepayments cover rent, employee health insurance, car and other insurance, and general and other prepayments.
- Each month, they are in charge of booking (audit fee collection, staff call credit, bank transfers, and charges for all payments).
- Do a regular bank reconciliation for all accounts and a POS reconciliation.
- Prepare a month-end reconciliation of the balance sheet for things like delayed income, accruals, etc.
- Filing and paying tax deductions (PAYE) on staff PAYE (payroll), contract staff (Locum & NSPs), and staff terminal benefits.
- Make a withholding tax plan and do a reconciliation, then file on the GRA portal to get paid each month.
- Take part in regular stock counts and checks of fixed assets.
- Helping with the year-end audit process and any other tasks that come up.
Skills or Experience Needed
To do well in this job, you need to:
- A Bachelor’s degree or a Diploma in an area related to accounting or finance.
- At least three years of work in a similar job, including National Service.
- Excellent English both in speech and in writing.
- Basic knowledge and skills in accounting, especially as they relate to the NGO field.
- Excel skills at the intermediate level.
