The Tony Blair Institute’s program to teach people about global citizenship is called “Generation Global.” It gives young people the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to be active, global, and open-minded citizens of the world. Since 2009, the Generation Global program has been going on. It has helped more than 593,00 young people and taught more than 15,000 teachers from more than 30 countries how to talk with people from other cultures.
Our training programs are geared toward both formal and informal educators, such as high school teachers in public and private schools, as well as community leaders and volunteers. Generation Global offers workshops in person and online that are very interactive and hands-on to help teachers learn about dialogue theory and practice.
During trainings, teachers learn about dialogic skills and try out the same activities they would be expected to lead with their students. Train-the-trainer sessions could also be used to help learning communities build their capacity and to help youth leaders work with their peers. What the job is about
Overview
The Generation Global program is growing around the world, and schools and non-profits are asking for more training on how to teach dialogue skills. So, we are looking for a group of passionate, experienced, and qualified part-time education trainers to join our Education and Quality team. These trainers will teach skills of dialogue in Indonesia, India, Ghana, and Rwanda, which are core growth countries.
The Education Trainer(s) will report to the Education and Quality Lead and set up good learning opportunities to help teachers teach young people how to talk to each other. They will be responsible for giving workshops and webinars online and in person (locally and internationally within the above core countries and possibly across regions) as needed.
These will be about intercultural communication concepts and practices, such as the pedagogy and skills of dialogue, instructional strategies for creating virtual exchange opportunities and global online communities, and special webinars and events for teacher professional development. Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver teacher workshops, information sessions, and webinars online and/or in person. Must be able to present and teach with confidence in different places and situations.
- Work with partner schools and organizations to create and deliver training materials for teachers and leaders.
- Make sure that all training content and delivery fits with the program’s goals, values, and indicators.
- Organize video conferences for teachers to share and talk about professional development topics.
- Take part in meetings and other ways to think about teacher trainings.
Person Specification
- Background in teaching, training teachers, or running groups. Experience running interactive workshops with teachers on teaching global citizenship.
- Communication and working together are examples of global skills.
- Global Citizenship knowledge and experience Education
- Excellent people skills and the ability to work with others in a variety of settings
- Excellent ability to think critically
- Excellent abilities to talk and write.
- Ability to work in different time zones and be flexible and adaptable in response to changes on the ground
- Diversity, fairness, inclusion, and accessibility
- Ability to travel to the countries listed above and other countries as needed to give training
- Fluent in English, and a second language would be better.
Timeline: May 2023 through April 2024
Over the course of the year, the above-mentioned training will be given, depending on what the program needs.
