This is how to get a medical report in ghana. A medical report is an official document written by a medical professional following a medical examination. A medical certificate or doctor’s certificate is a written statement from a physician or a medically qualified health care provider which attests to the result of a medical examination of a patient.
The Ghana Immigration Service released additional information regarding the requirement. They were first-time applicants for Work and Residence Permits. These people are to obtain medical certificates from the GIS Medical Facility in Accra. The service includes fees, types of tests conducted, hours of the clinic, and the obtainment of results.
GIS REQUIREMENTS
The directive is aimed at regulating the issuance of Work and Residence Permits in the country. It is also to protect public health by ensuring the medical certificates are not fake. Previously, applicants for Work and Residence Permits were allowed to provide medical certificates from their country of origin. This helped their work and residence permit process starts before their arrival in the country.

Applicants for Work and Residence Permits incur additional costs. Since they will have to travel to Ghana to undergo their medical examination at the GIS headquarters. After, go to their country to apply for a work and residence permit there. Foreigners should know that the personal appearance requirement will increase the time it will take to file a work or residence permit application and delay work start dates.
COST OF A MEDICAL REPORT IN GHANA
The fee per applicant to get a medical examination is 1200Ghana cedis. Payable to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
A MEDICAL REPORTS DETAILS
- The name and address of the practitioner issuing the certificate.
- The name of the patient/applicant.
- Date of the examination.
- The degree of the patient’s incapacity
- Date the medical practitioner considers the patient will be able to return to work.
A medical chart is a complete record of a patient’s key clinical data and medical histories, example; demographics, vital signs, diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, progress notes, problems, immunization dates, allergies, radiology images, and laboratory and test results.
