WTO PhD Internship Programme for Developing Countries
Applications are open fror students from developing countries for the 2022 World Trade Organization (WTO) PhD Internship Programme.
About WTO PhD Internship Programme
The World Trade Organization Internship Program is designed for students seeking to pursue their PhD education. It seeks to seek to support students expertise on World Trade Organizaion issues in developing countries.
Therefore, the secreatry of World Trade Organization is inviting applications from doctoral students from developing countries. Successful students will do their internship at the World Trade Organization.
In light of this, succusful applicants will be expected to continue their doctoral thesis during the internship program. Also, applicants will be expected to take advantage of this opportunities to interact with the general trade policy community.
However, students will not be expected to do any assignment on behalf of the World Trade Organization Secretariat. Each doctoral student will get a mentor during their internship period.
Thus, the mentor will offer students adviced as required by the any students’ academic supervisor.
Elibigility Criteria For WTO PhD Internship Programme
- To begin with, the internship programme is open to doctoral students from Developing and Under-Developed Countries. As well as customs territories that are World Trade Organization Members. However, government officials are not eligible to apply for the programme.
- Also, candiadtes must be studying a World Trade Organization-related PhD program. It may be in economics, law, international relations or any other relevant discipline.
- Additionally, candiadtes must be in their final stage of their PhD studies. Also, they must have at least 75% of their thesis completed and submitted with their application.
- But, if the project is not in any of the official languages of World Trade Organization, your acceptance may reduce. WTO languages (English, French or Spanish)
- Moreover, students must add a written recommendation letter from their academic superviosr’s.
- Lastly, before accepting applicants, the Selection Committee of WTO may contact the applicants academic supervisors for further information when needed.
Coverage of Internship
Students under this PhD Internship Programme will receive a daily allowance of CHF 60 (including weekends and official holidays falling within the selected period).
Also, medical health insurance coverage is compulsory in Switzerland, hence, students are responsible for getting their own health insurance before starting their internship.
