Study In UK: Swansea University Scholarships for International Students 2024

The Swansea University Scholarships for International Students for the academic year 2024/2025 in the United Kingdom are currently available to international students. The scholarship provides funding for Postgraduate level program(s) in any subject area offered at Swansea University. The scholarship application must be submitted before July 31, 2024.

Regarding Swansea University

Swansea University has been conducting exceptional research of global significance since 1920. Our study has expanded beyond business and industry to encompass the health, prosperity, culture, and well-being of a global community, thereby having a broader impact.

In recent years, our research effort has surpassed that of several larger universities, leading to an exceptional level of success. However, the pleasant and relaxed attitude that has always defined the “Swansea experience” has not been sacrificed.

As we progress as a modern university, we aim to become a genuinely global institution, prioritizing significant matters and enhancing quality of life, all while maintaining our commitment to exceptional education.

History of Swansea University

King George V set the University’s foundation stone on 19 July 1920, and in the same year, 89 students (including eight female students) enrolled. In September 1939, the institution had a total of 65 employees and 485 enrolled pupils.

By 1947, the campus only consisted of two permanent structures: Singleton Abbey and the library. The Principal, J S Fulton, acknowledged the necessity of enlarging the property and conceived a plan for a self-sufficient community, encompassing residential, social, and academic amenities within a unified location. His goal was to establish the inaugural university campus in the United Kingdom.

In 1960, an extensive development program was initiated to create new halls of residence, the Maths and Science Tower, and College House (later known as Fulton House). During the 1960s, Professor Olek Zienkiewicz made significant advancements in the field of engineering by introducing the “finite element method”. His innovative approach completely transformed the design and engineering of produced goods, and Swansea was establishing itself as a highly respected institution that commanded serious attention.

Construction of the student hamlet in Hendrefoelan commenced in 1971, followed by the establishment of the South Wales Miners’ Library in 1973. The Taliesin Arts Centre was then inaugurated on campus in 1984. In 1992, the Regional Schools of Nursing relocated to Swansea, and in 2001, the College of Medicine was established. Technium Digital was finished in 2005 and, just two years later, the University established the Institute of Life Science, which monetizes the outcomes of research conducted in the Swansea University Medical School. Construction began on a second Institute of Life Science in 2009.
