Victoria University of Wellington The Tongarewa International Scholarship for 2024 in New Zealand is currently accepting applications from international students. The scholarship enables students to pursue master’s or postgraduate-level programs in any field of study offered at Victoria University of Wellington. The scholarship’s deadline is August 1, 2024.

Regarding the scholarship program

Our commitment to our international student community is demonstrated by the Tongarewa International Scholarships. We award a range of these scholarships to deserving students worldwide each year. This scholarship, which is partially fee-based, will be used to cover one year’s worth of tuition costs. Candidates may be starting their first year of undergraduate study at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, or they may be enrolled in a postgraduate program.

Scholarships are granted through a competitive process, with the primary criterion being outstanding academic performance. Applicants are eligible to enroll in the academic year immediately following their application and will get a credit toward their tuition fees. Selected applicants may be asked to supply supplementary information to substantiate their application.

Those who obtain these scholarships are assured an opportunity to stay in one of our Halls of Residence, as long as they submit an accommodation application to University Accommodation Wellington by the specified time.

Victoria University of Wellington The Tongarewa International Scholarship 2024 in New Zealand is open to anyone who wishes to pursue a master’s or postgraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington.

Details regarding Victoria University of Wellington Tongarewa International Scholarship 2024

  • Scholarship eligibility: Master’s Research; Master’s by coursework; All postgraduate students; First-year students; School leavers
  • Deadline(s): The first trimester begins on November 1st, the second trimester begins on May 1st, and the third trimester begins on August 1st.
  • Price: $5,000 or $10,000

Qualification

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Non-domestic students who are paying the complete international tuition fees
  • Commencing their initial year of an undergraduate program or embarking on a postgraduate program.

If you meet any of the following criteria, you are not eligible for this scholarship:

  • Successfully finished your secondary education in a school in New Zealand
  • Successfully finished the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or Foundation Studies Program.
  • If you are a student from one of our partner universities abroad, either studying abroad or participating in a twinning program, please proceed.
  • You are currently in your second year of study in the same degree program at Victoria University of Wellington.

Procedure for Applying:

To apply for a scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington, follow these steps:

Due dates and submission requirements:

Applications become available one month before the deadline. Please revisit the website closer to the preferred trimester (Term) to access the application link. As a point of clarification:

  • The application date for Trimester 2, 2024 is May 1, 2024. Submit your application electronically by accessing the online application form.
  • The application date for Trimester 3, 2024 is August 1, 2024. Submit your application electronically through this website.
  • The submission of your application must be done online no later than 4:30 pm on the specified closing date.
  • Applications received after the specified deadline will not be taken into consideration.
  • For your application to be evaluated, you must submit all necessary documentation by the specified time.

Required Submission Materials:

Online application:

  • Ensure that all fields in the online application form are filled out in their entirety.
  • Personal Statement (500 words): Elucidate your motivation for pursuing studies at Victoria University, outline your academic objectives, and justify your eligibility for the scholarship.
  • Please emphasize any positions of leadership and participation in your educational institution or local community.
  • Official records of a student’s academic performance and courses taken are typically provided by educational institutions.
  • Please provide your complete academic transcripts and any additional pertinent paperwork about your qualifications.

Letter of Offer:

  • Please attach a duplicate of your acceptance letter from Victoria University, whether it is conditional or unconditional.

Process of selecting:

  • A panel, including Victoria University faculty members, will evaluate applications and choose candidates for the scholarships.

Crucial scholarship information:

  • These scholarships provide partial coverage for your tuition payments.
  • The scholarship funds will be applied to your tuition expenses following the final withdrawal deadline for the trimester in which you were awarded the scholarship (typically occurring approximately two weeks into the trimester).

Specifications:

An online application must be filed by 4:30 pm on the closing date. Applications that are submitted after the deadline or are missing the required information will be rejected. For the application to be considered, all necessary supporting material, including references, must be received by 4:30 pm on the closing date.

The scholarship will only be granted if the beneficiary is enrolled in a full-year program that meets the qualifications and duration of the scholarship. The program must be considered full-time according to Studylink’s point system. The scholarship payment will only be made once this criterion is fulfilled.

It is not possible to postpone the scholarship to a future year.

The scholarship can be combined with other rewards.

If the recipient of this scholarship decides to leave Victoria University of Wellington or fails to make adequate progress, they will typically be required to partially repay the award. Recipients are required to notify the Scholarships Office if they plan to withdraw.

Recipients are required to serve as representatives for the Victoria University of Wellington and engage in suitable events or marketing activities upon request.

The deciding authority has the authority to modify the terms and conditions of the scholarship in unusual situations or to prevent hardship for any scholarship candidate.
