Level of degree:

Scholarships at the Masters and Doctoral levels (Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Scholarships 2024) are offered for postgraduate, master’s, fellowship, and research-level studies at German universities.

Qualification Standards:

Are you prepared to start a rewarding academic adventure in Germany? KAS is looking for committed people who meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a university degree and a track record of outstanding academic achievement.
  • You must have been no older than 35 years old when applying.
  • Have an advanced degree of proficiency in German (B1 or B2 level*).
  • Committed to community engagement and actively engaged in volunteer work.
  • Plan to enroll in a German university for a minimum of four semesters.
  • Show a deep interest in politics and a wide range of educational backgrounds.
  • Support human rights and embrace democracy.
  • Show that you are tolerant and open to different points of view.
  • Demonstrate drive and the capacity to state specific objectives in life.
  • Before beginning studies in Germany, one must be proficient in German (B2 level). In exceptional circumstances, we provide financial assistance for courses in the German language to get you ready for college.
  • Typical financing terms are three years for PhD programs and two years for Master’s programs. Scholars receive a monthly scholarship in addition to access to a large network of more than 14,000 alumni, a comprehensive seminar program, and one-on-one mentorship.

How to apply:

The following are the necessary files needed for Master’s and PhD candidates:

Master students

Please download the application, complete it, and attach the accompanying files:

  • An insightful resume that includes information about your prior volunteer work or social commitments.
  • Letter of motivation.
  • Copies of your exam certificates, if the originals are not in English, are translated into German. Copies of your academic transcripts if you have attended a German university.
  • Verification of proficiency in German (B2).
  • An academic recommendation letter: This letter should be no more than two months old and should detail your qualifications and aptitude for the classroom. The author must be a doctorate-holding university professor or instructor.
  • A reference letter regarding the applicant’s character: Along with your principles and social commitment, this letter should highlight your personality and interests. The person writing the academic recommendation letter cannot be the author.
  • A record of your volunteer activities, if you have one.
  • If available, a proof of entrance or matriculation from your German university.

PhD candidates

Should you be applying for a PhD scholarship, kindly enclose the following additional documents:

  • A thorough synopsis of your Ph.D. thesis The main research topic of your planned project, its scientific applicability, your theoretical approach, and the reasons behind your study subject selection should all be outlined in this four- to five-page, German or English exposé. A bibliography, a work schedule, and other information should be included.
  • An additional recommendation letter for academic work: If you already have a doctoral thesis supervisor, that person should write this second letter. It takes the place of the applicant’s personality recommendation letter.
  • If already available, a formal statement from the targeted faculty member or department confirming full admission to the Ph.D. program.
