Prospective students must possess proficient English language abilities in order to be considered for our courses. Applicants must provide comprehensive documentation evidence to demonstrate their proficiency in the English language when applying for admission and scholarships. Monash University has the authority to request additional supporting documents to verify English Language Proficiency (ELP).

If an applicant’s native language is not English (meaning they come from a country where English is not the official primary language), they must provide proof of their English language proficiency (ELP) through either an independent test or a completed qualification conducted entirely in English in a country where English is the official language.

The preferred approach for verifying candidates’ English Language Proficiency is through an authorized English Language Test. Under some conditions, applicants may fulfill the English Language Proficiency (ELP) criterion without having to take a test. The main method by which this happens is by the attainment of a formal tertiary academic qualification that lasts for a minimum of two years on a full-time basis, and has been completed within the last five years (save for those enrolling in the faculties of Arts and Law), with the instruction being conducted in English.
