It was one of approximately 180 “normal schools” established in the late 19th century to educate teachers for the expanding public common schools. While some institutions collapsed, the majority gradually broadened their scope and transitioned into state colleges throughout the early 20th century, eventually evolving into state universities by the late 20th century.

Arizona State University is one of three universities that are overseen by the Arizona Board of Regents. It is a member of the Association of American Universities and is classed as a “R1: Doctoral University – Very High Research Activity”.

Arizona State University (ASU) has an enrollment of around 145,000 students. Out of them, more than 62,000 students attend classes online, while 112,000 are undergraduates and over 30,000 are postgraduates. ASU has five campuses and four regional learning centers spread across Arizona.

Arizona State University (ASU) provides a wide range of academic opportunities with 350 degree options throughout its 17 colleges.
