Job Title: Specialist – Product Management

The Specialist will make the wholesale carrier services product roadmap, which includes Fixed connectivity and IP services, and manage the wholesale carrier services product catalog. The person in this role will be in charge of making new carrier services products. This includes managing the product definition and delivery cycle, pricing, and technical and commercial specification definitions that are in line with market trends and commercial needs from the sales and commercial support team.

The person in this role will watch over the product’s launch, implementation, and FAB processes. The Consultant will work with the wholesale connectivity product team and the GEBU product team to come up with a single approach for both wholesale and enterprise fixed connectivity products.

The person in charge of the Product Specialist Fixed Services role will be expected to reach the following goals:

  • Support the development and management of the global Fixed Connectivity roadmap and product plans, working with the wider Connectivity Portfolio to build a single connected platform between wholesale and enterprise.
  • Lead the creation and management of products for connectivity and IP services
  • Create and manage the product catalog for carrier services, including the specs and prices for new products.
  • Work with OpCos to find out their most important needs and requirements from a carrier service point of view, then add them to the MTN GlobalConnect product catalog and plan.
  • Build and manage business cases for putting products into use, estimating the impact of CAPEX and OPEX and keeping an eye on business case performance once the product is out in the market.
  • End-to-end responsibility for product implementation, including project management for multiple teams, such as sales and technical, and making sure that operational procedures are set.
  • Responsible for pricing; based on information about how other carriers price their services,
  • In charge of making sure carrier services make money and managing the product economics for this business line.
  • Define and keep up a plan for the customer experience and make sure customers are happy.
  • Make sure the processes are set up to handle problems and fix them, as well as to detect, prevent, and respond to fraud.
  • Provide stakeholders with updated, high-quality product literature, target prices, and discount matrices across routes and accounts.
  • Track and manage the commercial and service performance of the product, recommend and deliver continuous improvements (revenue growth and cost reduction), including product upgrades and changes.
  • Work with the people who matter to give them information about sales, operations, competitors, the market, and products.
  • Manage the CRM product and pricing catalogue and make sure it is up to date.

Requirements for the job (in terms of education, experience, and skills):

Education:

  • At least a three-year degree (Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing)

Experience:

  • Fluent in English
  • 2+ years of relevant commercial experience in the fixed-line international telecommunications industry, preferably in the enterprise/carrier product business.
  • 2 or more years of experience with product management and/or analytics in the Fixed Connectivity area of telecommunications (desired)
  • Project Management skills

Competencies:

  • Able to work well with many different people from different backgrounds. Strong analytical skills to predict demand and make investment decisions.
  • A good understanding of how businesses work
  • Knowledge of risk management (someone who takes risks but carefully weighs the risks and rewards) and business development
  • Ability to figure out what the main problems are and think creatively and strategically about how to solve them.
  • Good knowledge of computers
  • Understanding the wholesale landscape of connectivity infrastructure, with a focus on emerging markets
