Job Title: Project Manager, Trust2Peace

The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding, Ghana (WANEP-Ghana) is a non-profit making peacebuilding Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). It is a civil society institution meant to prevent, resolve, and transform violent conflicts through collective and coordinated efforts of NGOs, local and national state institutions as well and individuals actively engaged in peacebuilding practice in Ghana in order to avoid the duplication of efforts and maximize resources for more effective responses to conflict situations. The organization seeks to facilitate the creation of a sustainable culture of non-violence, justice, peace, and social reconciliation in Ghanaian communities.
Job Description

- Tenure: One (1) year, renewable
Position Description
The staff technically manages the Trust2Peace Activity and reports directly to the HoP. Is responsible for, and leads in the programming and implementation of the Activity’s components technically led by WANEP-Ghana. The Trust2Peace Activity implemented in northern Ghana, is being led by the University of Maryland, and it is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution of field activities including the conduct of surveys, dialogues, and workshops, facilitated by Project Officers (POs) in charge of the Activity’s regions
- Support in the monitoring, review, and evaluation of the project based on targets and as part of the project management
- Through the POs, oversee liaison with other project team members, and related regional, district, and local government structures and institutions in the implementation
- Harmonize and ensure project integration at the Project Coordination Unit (PCU) under UMD,
- Draft Press Releases for approvals by the PCU/USAID prior to the implementation of major activities
- Support the early warning monitoring including field visits, analysis, and reporting such as drafting security briefs and updates, and threats to peaceful cohesion, co-existence, and collaboration within the Activity’s coverage.
- Facilitate the mitigation of threats to peace and security as it relates to VE
- Collate field reports, and prepare and submit periodic implementation reports to Management and UMD-led PCU
- Write Impact/Success Stories on the activities led by WANEP-Ghana and how those achievements are contributing to the broader project objectives and overall goal
- Prepare work plans, concept notes, and Terms of Reference (ToRs) for activities, and directly manage the project budget
- Ensures focus on WANEP-Ghana’s components or refocusing to achieve the overall objective of Trust2Peace
Required Skills or Experience
A second degree in Peacebuilding, Peace Studies, Conflict Transformation, International Relations, Development Studies, Psychology, Sociology, and other related fields.
Professional training and past experience in the subject matter will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 3 years of previous professional experience in a similar position
- A minimum of a combined 5 years of progressive experience in project management, preferably with a national or international NGO.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Demonstrable competence in peace and social project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation as well as project coordination.
- Competence in the use of different project design frameworks and theory of change
- Experience in training and workshop facilitation
- Experience in report writing and communication
- Competence in research and data analysis
- Good budgeting skills
- Demonstrable ability to build partnership and program networks.
- Be familiar with the context of the project’s geographic location demography.
- Must be peaceful, cultural, and gender-sensitive both in communicating and reporting.
- Must be conversant with the use of Microsoft Office tools and the internet.
- Be able to use social media such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. professionally.
- Must be result-oriented but adoptive person
- Strong and flexible team leader able to inspire and lead the team in an empowering manner
- Willing to travel and work outside normal working hours
