ROLE: Short-Term Engineer II

About This Position
The Senior Engineer is in charge of the growth of Engineering Staff as well as technical functions. Also, The Senior Engineer will create the standard of Tactical Scheduling, Drill and Blast, Ore control, and other mine operating responsibilities for the Akyem Project using Newmont General Guidelines as well as local regulations.
The Senior Engineer is an expert in sophisticated tactical mine scheduling methodologies, offering mining engineering and mine planning services to satisfy the needs of the business and fill the project pipeline. This includes evaluating and modifying Akyem mine plans, creating the MineSight MSSO application to generate various and timely forecasts with simultaneous equipment forecasts, and evaluating and implementing blast optimization techniques.
The Senior Engineer offers mining engineering at Newmont operations and projects a broad variety of expertise, experience, and demonstrated judgment.
In this position, you will
- Create standard operating procedures for Akyem Short-Term Mine Engineering, Ore Control, and Mine Operating Function. As per the Digital Assessment, incorporate Newmont Corporate objectives for technology in mine operations.
- Ensure that budgets and forecasts accurately reflect what is realistic and doable. Ensure that Newmont Mining Corporation’s mine design and economic evaluation of surface mining maximize the company’s value.
- Assist in the estimation of resources and reserves for reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The assignment necessitates extensive Mine Engineering knowledge and experience.
- Continue to acquire and increase proficiency in the use of advanced mine scheduling software to generate scheduling and equipment productivity assessments, material movements, and equipment requirements from short to long-range re-forecasts, and budget formulation.
- Analyze operational data and conduct investigations in order to report on and recommend changes to design or operational practice in the pursuit of business improvements, while assessing the applicability of such changes. This entails:
- Jigsaw and MineSight integration to improve Jigsaw equipment information utilized in MineSight/MSSO mine planning activities.
- utilizing a diverse and practical background to verify that decisions made with little to no data and without the capacity to test utilizing small-step improvement methods are right.
- Comply with all criteria for Health, Safety, and Loss Prevention (HSLP), the Environment, and Social Responsibility as outlined in the Newmont Ghana Integrated Management System, Newmont Values, and Vision.
Checklist of Your Education, Skills, and ExperienceFormal Education (including Professional Registration):
- A tertiary qualification in mine engineering is required, and an advanced degree in mine engineering is preferred.
- Understanding of exploration techniques and resource estimation.
- Mine methodologies, mine design, production scheduling, equipment selection, reserve calculation, maintenance development, and expert systems are all areas of expertise.
Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of surface mining experience is required; dispatch experience is preferred.
- Mine operations knowledge.
- Mine planning experience in a variety of mining applications.
- Experience with various gold and multi-element base metal ore resources.
- Experience with multi-mine, multi-process site mine planning.
- Extensive project evaluation experience.
Capabilities and Skills
- Excellent knowledge of mining planning software, including optimal procedures and cash flow analysis.
- Well-connected to industry experts and consultants.
- Knowledge of business systems and common office application software.
- Ability to establish and maintain a strong communication network with peers, Project Managers, Mine Managers, Chief Engineers, and representatives from JV partners.
- Excellent problem-solving and 3D visualizing abilities.
- Strong technical writing, group presentation, and interpersonal skills, as well as cultural sensitivity, are required.
- Working Environment
Location: The place is at the Akyem mine site.
Travel (0-10% of work hours) to local and overseas businesses is required for job performance.
