The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research is looking for PHARMACISTS / SENIOR PHARMACISTS from people who already work there and are fit for the job.
Job Summary
- The position is full-time and needs a commitment to the development and delivery of a pharmacy service for Clinical Trials involving medicines (pharmaceuticals). • Clinical Trials are a part of the job and are meant to spur cutting-edge research.
- The successful individual will be expected to work as part of a team to provide other pharmacy services, such as dispensary, procurement, and clinical pharmacy services.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Help clinical drug studies by coordinating, working together, and giving advice.
- Make sure that medicines are given out correctly and quickly.
- Be in charge of the general operations of the pharmacy in assigned areas and provide direct and functional supervision.
- Do jobs from different departments, such as those of the Admixture Pharmacist.
- Make and keep up-to-date rules and guidelines for pharmaceutical clinical trials that support and help Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
- Act as a study expert to give advice on how to set up a trial, where to get Investigational Medicinal Products (IMP), how to keep the randomization process secret, and what paperwork to fill out.
- Keep in touch with the people who work on research, the pharmacist, and the Principal Investigator of Clinical Trials.
- As needed, support grantsmanship and cooperation on other research projects that are in line with the job classification in order to connect research and business.
Specific Duties
- Come up with and look over proposals for Clinical Pharmaceutical Trials, and work with Specialist Clinical Teams to figure out if there are any potential ethical problems and if the proposal is possible, taking into account the Pharmacy’s ability and capacity to support the proposal.
- Send all proposals for clinical trials to the FDA and the Research and Ethics Committee.
- Make sure that all questions asked by the FDA about the drugstore are answered during the feasibility and study set-up phase.
- Help the person in charge of the clinical trials apply for permission to do the trials.
- Help the Principal Investigator make sure that the paperwork at the study site meets the standards set by the Clinical Research Organization.
- Communicate with other clinical study centers to make sure that everyone follows the same rules.
- As needed, support good clinical practice, good manufacturing practice, and current national and foreign regulatory requirements.
- Make sure that IMP is authorized and given out in the right way and on time.
- Help make sure that study participants get the right advice on how to use their IMP.
- Then, Keep an up-to-date list of the University of Ghana’s clinical investigational drug studies and make sure it gets passed out as planned.
- Make sure that experimental drugs and vaccines are kept at the right temperature and in a cold chain.
Needed Qualifications and Experience
- The candidate must have a BPharm/PharmD and a Master’s degree (MSC/MPH/MPhil) in a related field from a recognized university.
- Must be registered with the Pharmacy Council and Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana
- At least three years of relevant post-qualification experience for a Pharmacist and at least six years as a Senior Pharmacist, ideally working in a research facility and having the necessary knowledge in clinical trials.
- It will be helpful if you have experience running and directing clinical trials.
- Is a great team player and can talk to people well.
- Being able to work well under pressure and having open hours.
