Job Opening at Business Support Organization (BSO)

A reputable Business Support Organization (BSO) is looking for a qualified person to fill the position of Head of Research and Advocacy. This person will provide strategic input, guidance, and research on all economic, political, and social issues that directly or indirectly affect the economic and social interests of its member firms.

Duties and Obligations

The Head of Research and Advocacy is responsible for the following:

  • Start and run research, policy development, advocacy, and strategy in a wide range of policy areas;
  • Write position papers, memos, and presentations about government policies and other related problems;
  • Do economic studies and analyses of macroeconomic policies to help the BSO talk about policy and push for change:
  • Look at government budget statements to find all of the problems that affect the BSO or its members directly or indirectly;
  • Study the business, analyze the sector, and do surveys;
  • Develop and use a plan for advocacy and working with stakeholders to change the political, legislative, and regulatory atmosphere that affects business and industry. track, review, and share with internal stakeholders relevant studies done by the department;
  • Seek out and manage the creation and distribution of new and innovative ways to share research results with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Do study on the market, competitors, and business intelligence for the BSO and its clients;
  • Do regular reviews of the business and outlook of Ghana and the world;
  • Collect and keep track of information about trade and business; make project proposals for the BSO and its member firms;
  • Keep a list of people to make sure information about them is available.
  • Grow, improve, and oversee the department’s staff; and take care of special jobs.

Required Skills or Experience

The following must be true of the person in charge of research and advocacy:

Traits for consideration:

  • A minimum of an MPhil in economics or a Master’s degree in any social science, business administration, or a relevant specialist field, along with at least three years of professional work experience in public, private, or non-profit organizations:
  • A deep understanding of the business sector and government policies and programs in Ghana:
  • Ability to think strategically, good multitasking skills, persistence, and a willingness to solve problems
  • Able to do both quantitative and qualitative research well, confident, and confident,
  • Excellent speaking, communication, networking, and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to manage the work of subordinates and coach them.
  • Comments and help to build up the staff’s skills: honesty, good planning, organizing, and coordinating skills,
  • A great team player who can work well under pressure
