ROLE: Technical Advisor (Component Head)

The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) is a federal public-benefit corporation that operates in more than 100 nations throughout the world. In a number of fields, such as economic development and employment, energy and environment, and peace and security, we help clients from the public and private sectors on behalf of the German government.

Three main areas are covered by our activities: Energy and Climate, which focuses on clean energy and energy efficiency; Training and Sustainable Growth for Decent Jobs; and Peaceful and Inclusive Societies, which emphasizes good governance.

Project Summary

• The three-year Helping Private and Financial Sector (PFS) program was launched in January 2023.
• The program has five outputs, including support for financial services, service offerings for MSMEs, employment services for returnees and migrants, green economy measures, and foundations for vaccine production.
• It aims to improve the employment situation of MSMEs in five regions of Ghana, including Greater Accra, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo.

Role Purpose:

The Technical Advisor will support the PFS by offering technical assistance and advice to the insurance program partners and ensuring the operationalization of activities within the regional network of service providers for MSMEs with a focus on insurance interventions. The Technical Advisor will be responsible for implementing daily operational aspects of all program-related issues in the Bono Regions.

Tasks:

• Aids in partner organizations’ coordination, liaison, and advise, including the regional network of MSMEs’ service providers.
• In close coordination and coordination with counterparts, coordinates and assists in the preparation, planning, implementation, and monitoring of program plans and activities.
• Contributes to creating action plans and aids peers in synchronizing the planning and budgeting system
• Jointly accountable for planning, carrying out, and recording training events, seminars, forums, team meetings, and other program activities with partner universities.
• Consults frequently with the GIZ representative in charge of project execution in the regions

Necessary Education & Experience

Profile:

• A graduate degree (Master’s or MSc) in finance, risk management, insurance, or another pertinent field. A professional insurance license will be advantageous.
• A minimum of five (5) years of work experience, specifically in the private and financial sectors of Ghana’s development, or in organizations with a similar mission.
• Display strong organizational, management, and interpersonal abilities.
• Have a solid grasp of the English language (both in writing and speaking); knowledge of German is a plus
• Capacity to multitask and perform under pressure
• Proactive outlook on institutional change and personal progress
