• Title of role: Virtual Support Liaison Officer
• Contract type: Full-time (37.5 hrs per week), fixed term for 8 months (exact start date tbc)
• Remuneration: Competitive
• Location: Accra
• Reporting to: Virtual Support Team Lead Ghana

About you:

We’re looking for a consultant who has worked in HIV/sexual health service delivery, has great IT skills, and is passionate about improving sexual health and lowering the number of people in Ghana who have HIV.

Essential Education, Qualifications, and Training: At least a high school diploma and the ability to read and write in English. At least two years of experience working in HIV/sexual health care or sexual health education and outreach.

Essential Knowledge/Skills

• Excellent knowledge of HIV and other STDs. Excellent knowledge of IT and the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent ability to talk to people in person, on the phone, and through WhatsApp/SMS

Experience

• Counseling experience about sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, risk factors, and how to avoid them.
• Experience giving or helping to give sexual health education or services to both the general public and vulnerable groups.

• Non-judgmental attitude regardless of age, ethnicity, sexual behavior, or reproductive choices.
• Excellent listening skills.
• Willingness to help service users with sexual health problems by phone/SMS/WhatsApp when it is clinically safe to do so.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Positive attitude toward service development, innovation, and change. Willingness to change.
• Proven ability to work on your own, manage your time well, and put your own work and clients’ cases in order of importance while under clinical supervision.

Responsibilities

With help from the leader of the Virtual Support Team

• Develop an understanding of what the service user needs and provide information, advice, support, and direction through phone calls, text messages, and WhatsApp.
• Follow agreed protocols and standard operating procedures which detail how the virtual \ support team interacts with service users
• Use what you know about sexual health, HIV, its risks and benefits, and how to avoid it
• Find and mark users who are at risk and need to be checked out by the leader of the virtual support team.
• Find important feedback from users and pass it along to help improve the service.
• To go to clinical training and governance meetings and take part in them.
• Give non-judgmental, non-directive counseling on sexual health and HIV-related issues. Help make reports about the services given.
• Help the Project Manager with operational tasks, such as packing and distributing HIV self-test kits, in a flexible way.
