Job Summary:

The Security Operation Centre (SOC) Information Security Analyst is the first step monitoring in the SOC. The Analyst finds, monitors, and reacts to security events from Security Events Monitoring (SIEM) and other security event monitoring security systems as part of a team. They also help businesses protect their information assets.

Job Description

Cyber Defense Accountability: 70%

• Monitor security events coming in through the different SOC entry channels (SIEM, Tickets, Email, and Phone). Depending on how serious the security event is, escalate it to the Security team, tier 2 information security experts, and/or as needed to do more investigation and problem-solving.
• Make suggestions for changes and improvements to SOC security processes, procedures, and Playbooks.
• Take part in events related to security incident management and cyber response.
• Give important regulatory and business units monthly and ad hoc reports on all cyber incidents.
• During the reaction to an incident, you should communicate well with stakeholders and team members.
• Maintain an ongoing process of cyber and information security risk assessment with relevant institutional units to analyze and measure risk levels and the controls needed to protect system integrity and data.
• Learn more about information security problems and keep an eye on them by keeping track of trends, methods, and new developments in the field and by collecting information about new attacks and techniques.
• Document and keep track of customer-build documents, security routines, and processes.
• Staying up to date on new security threats and regulatory security standards is important.
• To do any other tasks that the Team Lead and Manager give them.

Accountability: Managing relationships with stakeholders: (5%)

Coordinate and run security response drills with business partners and service providers
Information security training and awareness should be promoted and given to workers, business partners, and customers.
Help with figuring out how safe goods and services are when it comes to information security.
Gather reports and minutes for the cyber steering committee’s monthly meetings.

Accountability: Data Quality (15%)

• Risk Data Aggregation and Reporting (RDAAR) rules say that reporting tools should keep a high level of data quality.
• Make sure all changes to the system are recorded, updated, and finished on time and well.

Accountability: Control (10%)

• Make sure that all actions and tasks are done in accordance with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.
• Understand and handle the role’s dangers and risk events (incidents).
• Make sure that everything you do is in line with the ISO27001 and PCIDSS standards.
