POSITION: Regional Sales Manager

Job Summary

The person who gets the job will work in the Sales and Distribution Department as a Regional Sales Manager. He or she will report to the Commercial Head and be in charge of driving growth in the assigned area by getting more customers, getting AirtelTigo products to more places, and making sure those products are available. The Regional Sales Manager will also make sure that the channels are as visible as possible, build a good team, and handle the Sales Channels and Partners.

Key Responsibilities

The Sales Manager is in charge of all business growth efforts in his or her assigned region. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Buying up GSM customers
  • Buying up MFS customers
  • Making sure that GSM goods, like SIM cards, vouchers, and E-PINs, are available to a large number of people.
  • Creating and managing an effective sales infrastructure that makes sure/increases the number of active POS, POA, and FL.
  • Communicating with the trade marketing reps to make sure that trade marketing is visible in all channels, including activation efforts for growth and visibility
  • Running a team of direct and indirect sales managers for territories.

As a leader in the region, the sales manager will also have to:

  • Build and coach your own team(s). Walk the walk.
  • Give the commercial head comments from competitors and information about the local market. Give immediate feedback on challenges and risks and find growth possibilities.
  • Work with the commercial head to create the region’s strategy, direction, and growth.
  • Have good relationships with the distributor’s staff in the region, lead and develop the distributor’s staff towards the new AirtelTigo model, and help the company reach its sales and acquisition goals in the assigned area.

Needed Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from a college or university in any field, with a focus on marketing, business administration, or other related fields.
  • At least seven to ten years of experience in sales and distribution, with at least five years of management experience in both indirect and direct sales channels.
  • Know how telecom S&D works, including what your competitors are doing.
  • Knowledge of how to run a distributor’s staff.
  • Business sense and a good knowledge of KPIs.
  • It is important to be able to speak and write English in a clear and concise way.
  • Have experience getting people to do things and describing business ideas in simple terms.
  • Proven ability to work in a setting where people work together as a team.

  • Strong analytical decision-making skills, including the ability to balance competing interests and make choices that maximize profits.
  • Able to persuade and teach stakeholders by using clear, logical, and rational analysis and explanations.

  • Able to look at problems and come up with practical and creative ideas that are important for business.
  • Driven and competitive
  • Excellent leadership and management skills to train and help the commercial team improve their skills.
  • Able to work and change priorities in a setting that is always changing.
  • Able to plan work and time and set priorities to meet changing needs and short deadlines.
  • Dependable because they can meet standards and do what they say they will do by the time they say they will.
  • You need to have a license to drive. Set up distributor teams and electronic sellers and be in charge of them.
  • Make sure that all Distributor and Electronic partner contracts are renewed and approved quickly.
  • Train and set up all distributor teams across the country, including new hires and people who have already been hired.
  • Do random trade surveys, like pull and push research by area, value perception research, and key accounts store adherence.
  • Let the regional team work with you on sales planning and a strategy for going to market.
  • Do audits of systems and tools to look for signs of fraud.
  • Be in charge of how the distributor management and stock management processes are run.
